Bruce Norris' THE QUALMS World Premiere Begins Previews Tonight at Steppenwolf

Steppenwolf Theatre Company's world-premiere production of The Qualms by ensemble member Bruce Norris is a provocative comedy marks Steppenwolf's eighth production and seventh world premiere by the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning author of Clybourne Park. Tony Award-winner Pam MacKinnon (Steppenwolf's production of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) directs a cast of nine featuring ensemble member Kate Arrington with Owais Ahmed, Karen Aldridge, Diane Davis, Kirsten Fitzgerald, Keith Kupferer, David Pasquesi, Paul Oakley Stovall and Greg Stuhr. The Qualms begins previews tonight, July 3, 2014 (opening night is July 13; press performances are July 12 at 3pm and July 15 at 7:30pm) and runs through August 31, 2014 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St).

Toronto Fringe Presents BIRDY…OR, HOW NOT TO DISAPPEAR, Opens Today

Birdy is afraid she might be crazy. It runs in the family, she thinks. Her grandfather had religious hallucinations. Her father was hospitalized for depression and self-harm. Birdy spends her life worrying-wanting so much to save the world, to help each person she sees. She's haunted by the fear she's inherited her family madness and there's nothing she can do about it. Part memory play, part manifesto of compassion, and part anxiety attack, Karie Richards' deeply personal solo show BIRDY… OR, HOW NOT TO DISAPPEAR plays July 2-13 at theHelen Gardiner Phelan Playhouse as part of the 2014 Toronto Fringe Festival. THE REALISTIC JONESES Set to Play Final Broadway Performance on 7/6

Will Eno's new play The Realistic Joneses will play its final performance of the limited run on Sunday, July 6, 2014, at 3:00 pm, having played 27 previews and 105 performances for a total of 132 performances. It began performances Thursday, March 13, 2014, with an official opening night on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Lyceum Theatre (149 W 45th Street).

From Broadway to THE LEFTOVERS on HBO; An Interview with Carrie Coon

The Town Hall 2014 Summer Season: Broadway Preludes presents Broadway Rising Stars, the annual revue giving recent graduates from the nation's leading performing arts schools a chance to showcase their talents and perform on the legendary stage. Directed by Scott Coulter, Broadway Rising Stars is created, hosted and written by Scott Siegel and features the brightest talent from AMDA, CAP 21, Circle in the Square, Juilliard, Marymount, The New School, NYU's Steinhardt and Tisch, Pace University, and more. The event will feature a special guest appearance by Tony Award winner Bill Irwin (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Fool Moon). Broadway Rising Stars plays one night only, Monday, July 14 at 8PM at The Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street.)

AtticRep Travels to Sister City in India

AtticRep is travelling to India on June 30th to collaborate with our sister city in Chennai, India on a Forum Theatre Project based on the work of Brazilian theatre artist Augusto Boal, founder of Theatre of the Oppressed. Chennai is one of eight sister cities established through San Antonio's Economic Development Foundation that bridge cultural gaps and ignite international economic development in the arts, education, business development, sports, leadership, research, technology, etc.

Ann Roth to Appear at Drama Book Shop for Q&A and Book Signing, 6/26

Oscar- and Tony-winning costume designer Ann Roth will appear at New York's Drama Book Shop on June 26 for a Q&A and book-signing of The Designs of Ann Roth, just published by USITT. Roth will take questions and sign books beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at The Drama Book Shop, 250 W. 40th St., New York City. The Designs of Ann Roth, by Holly Poe Durbin and Bonnie Kruger, is the latest in USITT's series of monographs on famous American theatrical designers.

THE COSBY SHOW's Malcolm-Jamal Warner to Star in GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER, 9/5-10/5

Huntington Theatre Company announces that Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known for his breakout role as Theo Huxtable, Bill Cosby's son on "The Cosby Show," will play Dr. John Prentice in Guess Who's Coming to Dinner in the Huntington's season opener September 5 - October 5, 2014 at the BU Theatre / Avenue of the Arts. Complete casting will be announced at a later date. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, June 24, 2014.
