BWW Review: Orlando Shakespeare's BAKERSFIELD MIST is Thrilling Examination of the Nature of Art
by Matt Tamanini - Oct 19, 2015

To whom does art belong? Is it something for only the elite and educated to analyze and appreciate, or is the opinion of the average viewer just as valid? That and many other complicated questions about the nature of art are examined in Stephen Sachs' thrilling two-hander BAKERSFIELD MIST, running at the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre through November 15th. Under the exquisite direction of Matt Pfeiffer, Steve Brady and Anne Hering collaborate for one of the most intelligent, challenging, and exciting performances I have seen in quite a while.

BWW Review: Theatre UCF's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST is Perfectly Frivolous Summer Fun
by Matt Tamanini - Aug 16, 2015

Very little in life is as refreshing on a hot summer day as a nice, cool cucumber sandwich; a close second perhaps is a classic, breezy comedy in an air conditioned theater. Fortunately, Theatre UCF is bringing back both when their production of Oscar Wilde's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST returns on August 27th for a final weekend of performances, after running earlier this summer in repertoire with DO BLACK PATENT LEATHER SHOWS REALLY REFLECT UP? (Check out Kimberly Moy's BWW Orlando review of PATENT LEATHER). Under the direction of Mark Routhier, the cast fully embraces the goofy storylines and giddy characters of this beloved comedy of manners to create an entertainingly trivial way to spend a summer evening.

BWW Reviews: TREVOR at Theatre UCF
by Justin J Sacramone - Nov 22, 2014

Animals creep me out. There, I said it. People often ask why I'm not more of an animal person. No longer will I have to search for the words to express my deep, unsettling feelings towards even the most cuddly of housepets. Perhaps the root cause for my emotional trauma is never being able to fully understand what is going through an animal's mind. So, imagine my reaction to a play that dives deep into an animal's inner monologue to try and make us understand the perils of deciding to house a wild animal. Now before we go any further, I must advise I am not talking about a passive Golden Retriever or snotty Siamese Cat, but an out-of-control, 14 year-old, 200 lb chimpanzee. Based on the true story of Sandra Jerome, who passed away in 2010 from an aortic aneurysm, TREVOR explores that age old question, 'What if animals could talk?'
