SOUTHERN FRIED NUPTIALS Begins 6/4 at Barter Theatre

'Southern Fried Nuptials,' a hysterical family comedy, comes to Barter Theatre beginning June 4, under the direction of Mary Lucy Bivins, a patrons' favorite of the Barter Resident Acting Company.

CRITICS' CHOICE: The Weekend's Best Bets

The weekend is upon us and that means that tonight is opening night for a couple of new shows (with performances continuing through the weekend) and closing performances of several others, including Newsies (at TPAC), Circle Players' The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and the farewell production of GroundWorks Theatre's Starlite Waltz. Meanwhile, John Chaffin's Cliffhanger continues at Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre and Cumberland County Playhouse continues its 50th anniversary season with a whole slate of terrific shows.

Photo Coverage: SONG OF SOLOMON Presented at The Actors' Temple

Where else to present a concert version of a new, original Broadway musical titled "Song Of Solomon than at the Actors' Temple. The historic building, constructed in 1923, has been designated a national landmark and the synagogue has been home to many of the greats in show business. Some of it's members and congregants were Al Jolson, Edward G. Robinson, Jack Benny, Milton Berle, Henny Youngman, Eddie Cantor and countless other lesser-known actors, comedians, singers, playwrights, composers, musicians, writers, dancers and theatrical agents. Academy Award winner Shelley Winters kept the High Holy Days in the Actors Temple. as well as The Three Stooges, and Harpo Marx who attended services. Ed Sullivan, whose wife Sylvia Weinstein was Jewish, was also a member.

Carol Ostrow Productions, the force behind the new Broadway-bound musical, 'Song of Solomon,' is offering a special benefit performance at The Actors' Temple's Annual Charitable Gala tonight, November 17, 2014, 7:30 pm., at 339 W. 47th Street, New York City.

The Courthouse Center for the Arts' UNDERLAND Begins Today

The Courthouse Center for the Arts, located in the historic Washington County Courthouse in West Kingston, RI presents their production of 'UNDERLAND'a musical by best selling author Jodi Picoult and her son James Van Leer with music by Ellen Wilber. Performances begin today, August 7th, and continue through August 17th on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:00, with matinees on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00.
