Now in its fourth year Illuminate SF Festival of Light shines a light on 35 dramatic, eco-friendly light art installations - nine more than last year and more than four times the number of the inaugural celebration in 2013 - accessible by public transport and free for all. From Thanksgiving 2016 through New Year's Day 2017, art lovers are invited to embrace the power of light and tour San Francisco's art installations by a diverse range of local and world renowned light artists. Illuminate SF Festival of Light, presented by the San Francisco Travel Association, has grown to include intimate artist talks, museum tours and a myriad of other light art activations across the city.

As previously announced, Tony-Award-nominated actress, Emily Skinner, will head up an all star cast for a newly conceptualized production of Into The Woods at Theatre Under The Stars this holiday season. The production, which is being directed and choreographed by Tony Award Nominee Robert Longbottom, will run in Houston from December 6 - 18, 2016 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. TUTS has just announced complete casting for the production.

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have announced that both of Manhattan Theatre Club's critically acclaimed fall productions playing at New York City Center (131 West 55th Street): Vietgone at Stage I and Sell/Buy/Date at The Studio at Stage II - Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center - Stage II are extending due to overwhelming demand.

I had the absolute pleasure of seeing two things last night that I had never seen before. A production of Harvey Fierstein's CASA VALENTINA and a sold out, standing room only crowd at The Pearl McManus Theatre. Brava to Dezart Performs on both counts!! CASA VALENTINA is the premiere performance of Dezart's ninth season in Palm Springs and sets a high barre for the season to come. Based on real events, Casa Valentina (or The Chevalier d'Eon) is a resort in The Catskills in the early 1960's whose guests are heterosexual men who dress and act as women. It is the story of gender identity and self acceptance and a close-knit group of men who never feel more "themselves" than when dressed as the women who live somewhere deep inside them. 

Nikita Boris and Justin Valentine will star in Valentina Kozlova's 'Nutcracker Winter Suite,' an all-dance, one-hour production that opens with the Snow Scene.   Both students of Kozlova, the exceptional young dancers participated in the Kozlova International Ballet Competition last April in New York City and were awarded scholarships to the Vaganova Ballet Academy, directed by Nikolai Tsisaridze, in St. Petersburg, Russia.

To kick-off its 9th season, DEZART PERFORMS will present Casa Valentina, a thoroughly entertaining Tony Award-nominated "dramedy" written by Harvey Fierstein, the multiple Tony Award-winning actor/playwright and American Theatre Hall of Famer. Fierstein's raucous dramedy, CASA VALENTINA, is a hugely entertaining production that will have audiences buzzing. This 2014-nominated Tony Award production for Best Play, is based on a factual Catskills resort that catered to heterosexual men who delighted in dressing and acting as women. The period piece returns us to the land of dirty dancing and borscht belt comedy, circa 1962. The play transports the audience to an inconspicuous bungalow colony that caters to this very special clientele -- white-collar professionals who discreetly escape their families to spend their weekends safely inhabiting their chosen female alter-egos.

Manhattan Theatre Club's world premiere production of Sell/Buy/Date, the new play written and performed by Tony Award winner Sarah Jones (Bridge and Tunnel), directed by Drama Desk Award nominee Carolyn Cantor (Fly By Night), will extend by one week at The Studio at Stage II - Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center - Stage II (131 West 55th Street).
