CST and CPS Team Up for HAMLET, 11/2-3

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today the 2012 partnership with Chicago Public Schools (CPS), CPS Shakespeare! Hamlet in which an ensemble of 28 students and teachers from nine CPS high schools will stage an adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater Receives Folger Shakespeare Library’s Shakespeare Steward Award

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today that the prestigious Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC, home to the world's largest and finest collection of Shakespeare materials, will present CST's Education Department with the Shakespeare Steward Award. Inaugurated in 2007, the Folger Shakespeare Steward Award is presented annually to a person or organization for innovative teaching of Shakespeare in American classrooms. Chicago Shakespeare Theater will be the first theater to receive this prestigious award.

AUTUMN PORTRAITS, WALDEN, and More Featured in Pontine Theatre's 2012-13 Season

Pontine Theatre announces its 35th performance season at the West End Studio Theatre in Portsmouth NH. Two things unite the wide range of work presented in Pontine Theatre's annual performance series: all use expression through movement as a primary dramatic vehicle and all are original works or adaptations created by the artists who perform them. This season the series features five productions: two by Pontine and three by invited guest artists. Pontine's West End Studio Theatre is located at 959 Islington Street in Portsmouth, NH. Performances are Fridays & Saturdays at 4pm & at 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm. Season subscriptions are $90 ($10 discount for students & seniors). Tom Rothman to Produce Spielberg's ROBOPOCALYPSE

Tom Rothman will come on board to produce the science fiction epic, ROBOPOCALYPSE, it was announced today by Stacey Snider, Partner and Co-Chairman of DreamWorks Studios. Steven Spielberg is set to also produce and direct the DreamWorks and Twentieth Century Fox co-production.

Target Margin Theater and The Brick Present TNT LAB: EXPLORING YIDDISH THEATER, 10/17-11/3

Target Margin Theater, in association with Brooklyn's The Brick in Williamsburg, launches its 2012-13 season with their annual TMT Lab: Exploring Yiddish Theater curated by TMT Artistic Producer John Del Gaudio. TMT's Lab offers a sampler of works from the canon of Yiddish Theater, to remind us all how diverse and sophisticated Yiddish culture was, and how great its loss.

Film Society of Lincoln Center Announces HBO Directors Dialogue Series

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today Ang Lee has been added to the roster of its 2012 NYFF HBO Directors Dialogues participants. FSLC also announced the selections for the 16th edition of NYFF's Views From the Avant-Garde, the popular yearly touchstone for experimental film around the world as well as the presentation of filmmaker awards from the Kazuko Trust for the first time. In addition, NYFF announced the selections for this year's short film programs.

David Zwirner Opens Al Taylor Solo Exhibition Today, Sept 7

David Zwirner has announced the gallery's third solo exhibition of drawings and three-dimensional works by Al Taylor. On view at the gallery's 519 West 19th Street space, the exhibition will present a comprehensive examination of two individual series by the artist: Pass the Peas (1991-92) and Can Studys [sic] from 1993, as well as a related group of works entitled Cans and Hoops (1993) which bridge the evolution between the two series. 'Pass the Peas' and 'Can Studys' will be on view from today, September 7 through October 27, 2012, with an opening reception set for tonight, September 7th from 6 to 8 p.m.

Steakley, Richmond Cast as Scott and Zelda in Feehely's Original OUTSIDE PARADISE

Clay Steakley and Jennifer Richmond will take on the roles of Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald this fall as Actors Bridge Ensemble presents the world premiere of Bill Feehely's Outside Paradise, November 9-18 at Belmont University's Black Box Theatre. Outside Paradise follows the life and love of literary legends F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald through the jazz age and into infamy. Funded by a Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission Creation Grant, this new work examines the volatile passion, deep commitment and remarkable work of this iconic pair and their closest confidants.

Iowa's Englert Theatre Presents Lindsey Buckingham Tonight, 9/2

The Englert Theatre will present An Evening with Lindsey Buckingham tonight, September 2 at 8pm. The renowned singer and guitarist earned a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a part of legendary rock group Fleetwood Mac, and has released six solo albums to critical acclaim.
