Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today the 2012 partnership with Chicago Public Schools (CPS), CPS Shakespeare! Hamlet in which an ensemble of 28 students and teachers from nine CPS high schools will stage an adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Inaugurated in 2007, the Folger Shakespeare Steward Award is presented annually to a person or organization for innovative teaching of Shakespeare in American classrooms. Pontine Theatre announces its 35th performance season at the West End Studio Theatre in Portsmouth NH. Two things unite the wide range of work presented in Pontine Theatre's annual performance series: all use expression through movement as a primary dramatic vehicle and all are original works or adaptations created by the artists who perform them. On view at the gallery's 519 West 19th Street space, the exhibition will present a comprehensive examination of two individual series by the artist: Pass the Peas (1991-92) and Can Studys [sic] from 1993, as well as a related group of works entitled Cans and Hoops (1993) which bridge the evolution between the two series. 'Pass the Peas' and 'Can Studys' will be on view from today, September 7 through October 27, 2012, with an opening reception set for tonight, September 7th from 6 to 8 p.m.
