The New York-based Happy Few Theatre Company has announced their inaugural production, a seven-person adaptation of As You Like It, using Shakespeare's original text. The Company aims to present actor-driven productions of plays from the classical to the contemporary. Admired for their versatility on stage, ten Smuin Ballet dancers will be taking off their dance shoes and inviting audiences to experience their talents as choreographers and more in XXPERIMENTS - Choreography Showcase. In an inventive evening of original works, Smuin dancers Darrin Anderson, Erica Chipp, Aidan DeYoung, Jonathan Dummar, Nicole Haskins, Weston Krukow, Ben Needham-Wood, Jane Rehm, Susan Roemer, and Christian Squires will showcase their own choreography set on fellow company members. Touchstone Theatre, long-renowned for creating community-transforming works of theatre, is tackling the story of the Lehigh Valley's Chinese locals and visitors. This two year process, entitled Journey from the East, will feature two performances, the first of which will be taking place April 3-13, 2014; the latter performance will be produced in April 2015, in collaboration with Chinese multidisciplinary artists of the Utopia Group, and with the support of the National Endowment for the Arts.
