Gloucester Stage announces the debut of the NeverDark series. NeverDark is a series of second-stage events that include lectures, talk backs, film screenings, play readings, and other events designed to enhance the knowledge and enjoyment of all Gloucester Stage Mainstage productions. NeverDark events are scheduled to complement a central theme, topic, or issue relating to a Gloucester Stage Mainstage production. All NeverDark events are Pay-What-You-Wish. Five playwrights from across the country have been selected to develop and present their plays as part of the 15th Seven Devils Playwrights Conference. These writers, selected from over 450 open submissions are: Robert Caisley, who will also serve as the 2015 Conference's Featured Playwright with his play The Open Hand, Jennifer Blackmer with her play Unraveled, Bernadine Cockey with her play Relative Madness, J. Joseph Cox with his play Koalas and Sara Jean Accuardi with her play <3.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2013 Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards. The awards, totaling $1,108,000, allow 39 productions extra time in the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, helping to extend the life of the play after its first run.

Following the success of their 2012 inaugural season, the iStar Theatre Lab is pleased to announce that they are now accepting submissions for the 2013 iStar Theatre Lab, which will take place in New York City in the fall of 2013. Under the supervision of Tony Spinosa, Producing Artistic Director, and Managing Director Laura Bultman, the three-week Lab (October 7th - 27th) is the centerpiece of the Theatre Lab's year-round work which is to provide a safe environment for the development of contemporary plays and musicals by engaging writers to incubate new works and ideas that engage and challenge diverse audiences.

The iStar Theatre Lab dropped the news today that they will be leading off their 2013 season with an original work starring George Hamilton, with book by his brother David Hamilton, with the working title The George Hamilton Project. The work encompasses the remarkable life and times of the world-famous 'Tan Man', actor George Hamilton. Supervised by Tony Spinosa, Producing Artistic Director, Laura Bultman, Managing Director with Jo-Ann Bethel, Associate Producer, iStar's hands-on development commences on May 13th. The Lab will take place in New York City and will conclude with a private presentation on June 1st.
