id Theater Returns to McCall with 17th Seven Devils Playwrights Conference

Now celebrating its 20th year, id Theater returns to McCall, Idaho with the Seven Devils Playwrights Conference, with events from June 8 to 17 at McCall's Alpine Playhouse. This will be the 17th year for the Conference, which will host nine playwrights from all corners of the United States whose work will be developed and presented to the public free of charge during the Conference.

Pear Theatre Opens Season with THE GUYS AND VEILS

Pear Theatre opens its 2016/2017 season with two two-person shows running in repertory, each presenting a different perspective on modern conflict, identity, grief, and human nature. THE GUYS by Anne Nelson, directed by Christian Haines, previews on August 24; with Press and Opening Night on Friday, August 26, followed by a champagne gala. VEILS by Tom Coash, directed by Vickie Rozell, previews on August 25; with Press and Opening Night on Saturday, August 27, followed by a champagne gala. The two shows run concurrently through September 18. All performances are held at the Pear Theatre, 1110 La Avenida St., Mountain View. WOMEN AND WAR is a month-long festival examining the effect of warfare on women worldwide. Bringing together an extraordinary span of international work, and performers from all continents, the festival will showcase cutting-edge drama, comedy, dance, documentary film and photography, drawn from the United Kingdom, United States, Spain, Iran, and Uzbekistan. Across the centuries, from the Crimean War and WW2 through to the current conflict in Syria, Women and War tells the profoundly personal and yet universal stories of the role of women and the impact upon them during and after conflict, whether subjugated or subversive, victim or healer, protector or fighter. Opening today, the festival is held at Frederick's Place - a historic building in the heart of the City.

The So & So Art Club presents Tom Coash's VEILS at The Theatre Room, directed by Pamela Schermann and starring Isaura Barbe-Brown and Zelina Rebeiro. The staging is part of the Women and War Festival, a month-long, multi-discipline festival which documents, explores and gives voice to the experiences of women from across the world before, during and after war. The festival features 16 theatre presentations as well as talks, exhibitions and screenings.

Pear Theatre opens its 2016-17 season with an insightful pair of plays presented in repertory. THE GUYS, by Anne Nelson, chronicles the real-life relationship between a journalist covering the aftermath of 9/11 in New York, and a New York fire chief struggling to write eulogies for dozens of lost compatriots. Alternating with THE GUYS will be VEILS by Tom Coash, featuring two Muslim women during Arab Spring - one, an African-American born in the United States who seeks to be less of an outsider by taking her college studies to Egypt, the other an Egyptian-born woman who craves the freedom and adventure she imagines American women to have.

?Mildred's Umbrella Theatre Company and Wordsmyth Theatre proudly present Museum of Dysfunction VIII: A SHOWCASE OF SHORTS. Now in its eighth year, this annual short play festival features new pieces by playwrights from across the nation and produced by the professional actors and designers in the Mildred's Umbrella Company. With over 200 submissions this year, only the top nineteen will be produced over two consecutive weekends. The first group of nine plays will run June 23-25 and the second group of ten will run June 30-July 2.
