DAVID AMRAM: The First 80 Years Jazz, a spectacular, historic celebration of a true American original whom the Washington Post has described as "one of the most versatile and skilled musicians America has ever produced," will be presented by Jazz Forum Arts on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 7:30 PM at Peter Norton Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street, in Manhattan, it was announced by Mark Morganelli, Executive Director of the presenting organization.
Tony Award winner Jennifer Holliday will perform with the National Symphony Orchestra Pops for three performances, November 26-27, 2010 in Jennifer Holliday in Concert. Principal Pops Conductor Marvin Hamlisch will conduct the program which will include such Dreamgirls hits as 'And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going' and 'Changing,' along with other audience favorites. The concerts will take place during Thanksgiving weekend on Friday, November 26 at 1:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Saturday, November 27 at 8 p.m. in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall.
Gavin Creel is set to perform his new cabaret, Back to New York at Birdland on Mondays, November 1, 8, and 15 at 7pm. Creel is returning from appearing in the West End production of Hair after appearing in the Broadway production last year. Creel has also appeared on Broadway in Thorougly Modern Millie.

Exploring the roles of science, government, higher education and industry in developing and distributing a life-saving drug, the exhibition will bring to life the personalities who discovered insulin and raced to bring it to the world, and will tell the story of one extraordinary New York girl-Elizabeth Evans Hughes--who was among the very first patients to be saved. The exhibit will feature digital interactives, film, artifacts, and ephemera drawn form the Historical Society's own collections and from the University of Toronto, Eli Lilly and Company, the Rockefeller Institute, the Joslin Clinic, and New York Academy of Medicine.

Floyd Mutrux, head of MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET co-production company American Pop Anthology, has plans to bring more musicals based on rock groups to Broadway, Variety reports. Of his plans, Mutrux says, 'With American Pop Anthology, I've written a series of stories about the people who made the music that changed the culture of our country from the 1950s to 1980s, which ended with MTV...MTV took all the mystery out of rock 'n' roll. The record companies spent the money making videos and they stopped putting money into groups touring.'
