Brooklyn College Presents the 12th Annual Weasel Festival Hosted by the Public Theater

The Department of Theater at Brooklyn College is one of New York City's outstanding institutions in the training of theater artists. With the assistance of a generous grant from the Tow Foundation, the Department of Theater in conjunction with the MFA Playwriting Program, headed by co-coordinators Mac Wellman and Erin Courtney, will present the annual Weasel Festival, hosted by The Public Theater.

The Kitchen Presents Half Straddle's HERE I GO, PT. 2 OF YOU Tonight

The reclamation of spaces, ideas, and paradigms by female-identified and informed bodies and queer bodies embodying feminist ethos must be made paramount at this moment in American Life. Led by Half Straddle's Artistic Director, Tina Satter, Here I Go, pt. 2 of You is a two week open work period and colloquy, encompassing rehearsals and showings of new theater and video work; the launch of an online journal of performance writing; public lectures; and communal zine-making activities that will act as accessible discussion periods.

PS122 Artistic Director to Step Down

Iconic non-profit arts organization, Performance Space 122 (PS122) announces that Vallejo Gantner has decided to step down as Artistic Director. He will remain with the organization until a new director is in place. Performance Space 122's Board of Directors has launched a search for new leadership with the goal of filling the position by the end of 2016.

Mike Iveson Sci-Fi World Premiere to Play The Kitchen in May

The Kitchen is pleased to present The Tear Drinkers, the second musical work from beloved performer and Bessie-Award-winning composer Mike Iveson. The Tear Drinkers is a suite of sci-fi songs for six performers and piano; it follows four humans who have been abducted by the United States government and brought to an underground holding tank in New Mexico, so that the government can determine which of them is actually an alien from another planet masquerading as an earthling. Downtown performer Mike Iveson leads a team of exceptional artists, including pioneering video artist Charles Atlas, in a look at the private heartaches and private bathroom rituals of humans and aliens alike.

New York Live Arts to Present Half Straddle's GHOST RINGS

Following the success of their production of Ancient Lives at the Kitchen in 2015, Half Straddle, New York's captivating Obie-winning experimental theater troupe that has developed an international following, premieres Ghost Rings, a theatrical pop song cycle that burrows and soars through the twisted layers of love among best friends and a family band of yesteryear. Featuring Tina Satter, Chris Giarmo, Erin Markey, and Kristen Sieh, this world premiere will be presented for two weeks only, April 22 - 30, 2016, at New York Live Arts. To benefit their 2016 return to their East Village home, Performance Space 122 (PS122) and Executive Producer Anson Mount bring together widely acclaimed playwright Eric Bogosian and director Jo Bonney, along with their close friends, for two-nights of hand-selected, intimate performances from Bogosian's 100 Monologues series.
