TIME Magazine's #1 Show of the Year, MATILDA THE MUSICAL, is coming to Memphis as part of the 2015-2016 Broadway Series. Produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Dodgers, the first national tour of MATILDA THE MUSICAL will be coming to the Orpheum Theatre January 12 - 17, 2016. Tickets will go on sale to the public today, November 6th at 10:00 AM.

A magical blend of a Grimm fairy tale, like HANSEL AND GRETEL, a Dickensian novel like OLIVER, and a childhoodhood fable like Roald Dahl's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, and you have the makings of the new musical MATILDA, (also by Roald Dahl), that is playing at Shea's Buffalo Theatre.

On the 25th of October, in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, the team that created Tiny Dancer by A Song For Lily-Mae in 2012, the second biggest selling charity single in Irish chart history, second only to the 1985 smash hit, Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas, recorded a brand new charity single. I first became aware of author Roald Dahl from watching the film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, although I didn't read the book it was based on, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, until later, finding it much darker in tone than the movie, but very entertaining nonetheless. After that exposure I remember watching the Tales of the Unexpected series on television, which was based on his short story collection of the same name. I never read Matilda, but I wish I had, and I think I'm going to in the near future, because we share something in common; the love of books of all kinds. MATILDA THE MUSICAL brings this tale to life in impressive fashion (book by Dennis Kelly, music & lyrics by Tim Minchin), with this story of a precocious little girl, whose parents don't understand her. It's a wondrous show, filled with memorable songs that snugly fit and advance the action, and an incredible cast that will have you rooting for them every step of the way. It's truly magical, and definitely a must-see, for families, and even those who don't have them. You have to see this glorious production that's currently playing at the Fox Theatre through November 1, 2015.

Matilda The Musical will launch a digital lottery on October 27, offering a limited number of $32 seats each day via MatildaLottery.com. Entries can be submitted the day of the preferred performance, by 11am for matinees or by 3pm for evening performances. Entrants may choose to be notified of winning via email or text, and winners may claim up to two tickets, which will be held for purchase at the box office.

TIME Magazine's #1 Show of the Year!, the Tony Award winning hit MATILDA THE MUSICAL will make its Nashville debut with a one-week run at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Andrew Jackson Hall on January 26-31, 2016.

Today, Wednesday 21 October 2015, Society of London Theatre (SOLT) showcased the creative strength of British theatre and celebrated some of the theatrical works which have been successfully exported to China.

Casting has been announced for the St. Louis engagement of the First National Tour of MATILDA THE MUSICAL. Produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers, MATILDA THE MUSICAL will play the Fabulous Fox Theatre tonight, October 21 - November 1.

New production images of the cast of the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Matilda The Musical are now available. Evie Hone and Lizzie Wells have joined Anna-Louise Knight and Lara McDonnell in the title role, alongside Michael Begley (Mr Wormwood), Miria Parvin (Miss Honey) and Rebecca Thornhill (Mrs Wormwood). Craige Els will continue in the role of Miss Trunchbull. Matilda The Musical, which celebrates its 4th birthday on Sunday 25 October, is now booking at the Cambridge Theatre until 18 December 2016.

Artistic Director Christopher Haydon today announces the Gate Theatre's new season Nuclear: A Season about the Family. The season opens with the world premiere of Nina Segal's In the Night Time (Before the Sun Rises), followed by the world premiere of The Iphigenia Quartet which includes Agamemnon by Caroline Bird, Iphigenia by Suhayla El-Bushra, Clytemnestra by Lulu Raczka and Chorus by Chris Thorpe.

With the Autumn well and truly underway, October kicks off to a sexy, wickedly funny start with Charlie Bicknell leading the glittering array of headline acts at Crazy Coqs. Swiftly followed by the Grammy-nominated American pianist and vocalist Judy Carmichael, the line up of female songstresses continues with the magical voice presence of Frances Rufelle. Hot on her stiletto heels comes the Broadway diva Christine Pedi and then to round off month, comes the maginificent and capitivating star of television, stage and screen, Anne Reid.

In a way, theatre is a bit like pizza: a good slice is heavenly; but often, even a bad pizza is better than no pizza at all. On the other hand, sometimes the best pizza can turn into mediocre leftovers when you microwave it after it's sat around. On stage, sometimes the same can be a true…even the best Broadway shows don't always 'reheat' well on the road.

 MATILDA just celebrated its 1000th performance with who else, but creator Tim Minchin, for a special conversation at New World Stages. At the special event, Jessica Shaw of EW moderated a Q&A and Minchin performed a few Matilda tunes at the piano. BroadwayWorld was there for the special night and you can check out photos below!
