Nirvana Indian Restaurant Announces Peter Beck as Executive Chef

For nearly a decade, Nirvana has been a reliable destination in Murray Hill for flavorful, well-prepared regional Indian cuisine in a serene setting. Just as Buddha achieved enlightenment sitting under the Bodhi Tree (a reoccurring motif in the restaurant), so too have guests been achieving Indian culinary bliss at Nirvana for years. Owner Anil Amin opened the restaurant in 2008 the culmination of a lifelong career in hospitality including time spent at the iconic Windows on the World. He has now turned to industry friend and Michelin-starred Indian chef Peter Beck, as Executive Chef, to bring Nirvana to the next level.

Porchlight Music Theatre to Continue Series with NEW FACES SING BROADWAY 1939

Porchlight Music Theatre and Artistic Director Michael Weber have announced the first production in its 2017 2018 season of Chicago's hit musical revue series, New Faces Sing Broadway 1939, hosted by Rob Lindley, directed by Keely Vasquez with music direction by David Fiorello, is Monday, Oct. 23 at Skokie Theatre, 7924 Lincoln Ave in Skokie and Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the Uptown Underground, 4707 N. Broadway at 7:30 p.m.

Today Ariel Pink releases a new video for Dedicated to Bobby Jameson single, Time to Live. The clip was directed by Ukranian art collective, Gorsad. The three-piece is revered for their raw, striking imagery exploring youth, self-irony and convention.

Playwright's Legal Team Responds to James Franco's Cease & Desist Letter

As previously reported, Epic Theatre Company's production of 'James Franco and Me' written by Kevin Broccoli cancelled its New York production, originally slated to go up in August, after the venue at which the play was to be performed received a cease and desist letter from Franco's lawyers. The playwright, Broccoli, began working with his own lawyers to respond to the cease and desist. Their letter, which has been emailed to Franco's attorneys as of today, September 27, can be read in full below. Broccoli and his lawyers are waiting on a response from Franco's legal team.

CABARET Opening Soon at Long Beach Playhouse

On October 14, the Long Beach Playhouse Studio Theatre closes its 2017 season with the musical Cabaret. When Cabaret debuted in 1966, it was sexually provocative and edgy for the time. By 1998, the bar had moved up what was considered provocative and edgy. The play was due for an update.
