The 14th Annual 5th Avenue Awards Honoring High School Musical Theater are Announced!

Excited high school students, educators and supportive friends and family members packed McCaw Hall to celebrate The 14th Annual 5th Avenue Awards Honoring High School Musical Theater. The highly anticipated event, directed by Kat Ramsburg, handed out awards in 21 categories ranging from Outstanding Overall Musical Production to Outstanding Lobby Display. The crowd eagerly cheered for Washington's finest teenage performers as awards were accepted, local celebrity presenters spoke and nominated students performed musical excerpts from their acclaimed shows. This Tony Awards style program hosted by The 5th Avenue Theatre is proudly sponsored by Wells Fargo with additional support from Alaska Airlines and The Boeing Company.

NYC Parks and AT&T Expand Free Public Wi-fi & Solar Mobile Charging

NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, FACIP, today joined AT&T's New York President Marissa Shorenstein, Bronx Borough President Rueben Diaz, Jr. and community members to announce a deal to extend free public AT&T Wi-Fi in the Parks for an additional five years. The free Wi-Fi is available, regardless of wireless carrier, to parkgoers at 27 locations in 21 parks across the five boroughs. The collaboration increases the number of free solar mobile charging stations to 34 units at 15 parks and beaches; and four new parks will receive the popular AT&T Street Charge units-Queens Flushing Meadows Park at David Dinkins Circle and Ederle Terrace, Brooklyn's Sunset Park and Prospect Park at the LeFrak Center and Joyce Kilmer Park in the Bronx, where the announcement was made.

?Terry Martin, WaterTower Theatre Producing Artistic Director, today announced details of the Company's 2016-2017 20th Anniversary Main Stage Season.  The 5-show subscription season, planned by Martin, includes four Regional Premieres. Highlights of the season include a Stephen Sondheim classic, a musical tribute to American music legend Johnny Cash, two plays by leading female playwrights Lauren Gunderson and Karen Zacarias, plus a holiday extra.

Lantern Theater Company presents a showcase of original plays by medical students and faculty as part of Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University's Reader's Theater event 'The Truth Beneath: Five Stories You Haven't Heard From Your Provider.' The culmination of the second year of The Empathy Project, this event is held today, Tuesday, May 31 at 6:00 p.m. at the Herbut Auditorium, located on the Ground Floor of the College Building, 1025 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
