Alan Gilbert To Conduct Mahler's Dramatic, Autobiographical Symphony No. 6 9/30, 10/1

Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in Mahler's Symphony No. 6, launching a season-long focus that honors the 150th anniversary of the composer/conductor's birth and the 100th anniversary of his death and last season as music director of the New York Philharmonic, Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, September 30, at 7:30 p.m., and Friday, October 1, at 8:00 p.m.

The New York Philharmonic will present its third international concert tour under the direction of Music Director Alan Gilbert: EUROPE / AUTUMN 2010, October 21-November 4, 2010. The wide-ranging European tour will feature eleven concerts in eight countries, with debuts in the Republic of Georgia (in Tbilisi and Batumi) and Republic of Lithuania (in Vilnius), in addition to concerts in Belgrade, Republic of Serbia; Ljubljana, Republic of Slovenia; Warsaw, Poland; Hamburg, Germany; Paris, France; and Luxembourg. NY Philharmonic Ends Season with AL LARGO and MISSA SOLEMNIS, 6/23-26

Alan Gilbert will conclude his first season as Music Director of the New York Philharmonic conducting two works: AL LARGO, a World Premiere-New York Philharmonic Commission by Magnus Lindberg, The Marie-Josée Kravis Composer-in- Residence, and Beethoven's MISSA SOLEMNIS, Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, June 26, at 8:00 p.m. Mr. Gilbert will also conduct the Philharmonic in the Beethoven MISSA SOLEMNIS at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Friday, June 25, 2010, at 8:00 p.m.

New York Philharmonic To Feature Gilbert and Hardenberger in Concerts, 6/17-6/19

In the second of the final three weeks of his inaugural season, Music Director Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in Wagner's Siegfried Idyll; HK Gruber's trumpet concerto Aerial; Mozart's Symphony No. 25; and Wagner's Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde, Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 18, at 11:00 a.m., and Saturday, June 19, at 8:00 p.m. Joining the Orchestra to perform Aerial will be the Swedish trumpet virtuoso, Håkan Hardenberger, for whom it was written, and who is making his New York Philharmonic debut.

NY Philharmonic Earns ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming

The New York Philharmonic is to be honored today with two 2009-10 ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming at the League of American Orchestras' Annual Meeting at its 65th National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The Philharmonic will receive the Award for American Programming on Foreign Tours, and a First Place Award for Programming of Contemporary Music.
