A CLASS ACT Opens at New World Stages Tonight

After enjoying its World Premiere engagement earlier this spring at the Playroom Theater, A Class Act, the inaugural and relevant new play by attorney and playwright Norman Shabel, will now hold court at New World Stages  - Stage 5(340 West 50th Street - between 8th & 9th Avenues) for a summer run.  Produced by Eric Krebs, performances will begin on Saturday, July 9 at 8pm and continue through Sunday, September 4.

Andrew Lippa's THE LIFE OF THE PARTY Makes US Premiere at TheatreWorks this August

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will bring U.S. audiences their first look a London hit, when it presents the American Premiere of the joyous musical revue The Life of the Party. Directed and co-created by David Babani, the Artistic Director of London's Menier Chocolate Factory, this rollicking musical journey celebrates the songs of Tony Award-nominated composer Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party, The Addams Family, Big Fish) who takes the stage as a featured performer, along with a cast of Broadway and West End veterans, bringing to life a hilarious, uplifting, memorable evening that was declared "Sexy, sophisticated, and funny" and awarded five stars by London's Telegraph. The Life of the Party will be presented by TheatreWorks Silicon Valley August 24-September 18 (press opening: August 27) at Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St, Mountain View. California Shakespeare Theatre Presents YOU NEVER CAN TELL

Tim Federle, Bess Wohl, Marc Bruni, Leigh Silverman and More Slated for NYMF Panels

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF), previously known as The New York Musical Theatre Festival, has announced that they have partnered with The ASCAP Foundation, The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME), and SDC Foundation to curate three panel conversations with industry professionals, aimed at providing more insight into the musical development process.

Prospect Theatre Company to Premiere ARCHETYPE: July 27-31

Prospect Theater Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Cara Reichel and Managing Director Melissa Huber, presentsARCHETYPE, a collection of six new mini-musicals, the culminating production of Prospect's 2016 Musical Theater Lab (the company's 10th lab production).  ARCHETYPE will play from July 27 - 31 at The Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 East 14th Street @ 1st Ave., NYC).

This summer Theatreworks USA, the nation's leading not-for-profit professional theatre for young audiences, will present the Off-Broadway Premiere of Junie B.'s Essential Survival Guide to School. Thanks to the generosity of corporations, foundations, and donors, Theatreworks USA  will be able to send over 12,000 underserved youth to the theatre for FREE!

OUTSIDE MULLINGAR at TheatreWorks this October

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 2016/2017 season with the regional premiere of Tony Award-nominated Outside Mullingar. Written by John Patrick Shanley, the Oscar, Pulitzer, and Tony Award-winning author of Moonstruck and Doubt, this wry romantic comedy tells the tale of two eccentric, lovelorn neighbors split apart by family feuds and rustic fences as they stumble their thorny way toward the brink of happiness. Set amidst the rustic cottages of rural Ireland, this funny, poetic, and deeply moving Broadway hit asks if it is ever too late to take a chance on love. Outside Mullingar was praised by The New York Times as "Shanley's finest work since Doubt," and will be directed by Robert Kelley.

Carnegie Theatre to Open 2016-17 Season with ROCK OF AGES

The Carnegie patrons can expect 'Nothin' But a Good Time' with the 2016-17 Theatre Season opener, ROCK OF AGES. The classic boy meets girl tale features classic 80s hair band hits and runs weekends August 13-28, 2016.

THE TAMING Continues Circle Theatre's Year of the Playwright For Its 35th Anniversary Season 

The fourth show of Circle's season is The Taming, Lauren Gunderson's all female "power-play". This raucous political comedy will have both parties laughing in the aisles. Hilarity ensues when two political opposites wake up and discover themselves locked in a hotel room with a beauty queen. Following her past Circle productions of Exit, Pursued By A Bear (2013) and I and You (2015), The Taming brings to the stage the startling humor and rich roles for women that Ms. Gunderson skillfully creates.

TheatreWorks Hosts Creative Workshop on July 30th

On  Saturday, July 30, from 10AM to 1PM, TheatreWorks New Milford will host a dynamic creative workshop, 'Die Vampire, Die,' led by Broadway's Susan Blackwell. The workshop, appropriate for individuals of all ages, is inspired by the popular song 'Die Vampire, Die' from the hit Broadway musical [title of show], currently running at TheatreWorks New Milford through July 31. Miss Blackwell was also a member of the original Broadway cast of [title of show].   

Regional Premiere of Lopez's REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES to Open in August

The Douglas Morrisson Theatre 2016-2017, 37th season launches with the regional premiere of Josefina Lopez's newly updated award-winning comedy Real Women Have Curves. DMT is tremendously excited to be presenting the regional premiere of Ms. Lopez's updated version, which first premiered at the Mission Cultural Center over 25 years ago in a production by El Teatro de la Esperanza.
