'LADY DAY' & PECONG Set for Bayou Theatre Company's Third Season

The Bayou Theatre Company returns with its third season entitled 'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: Exploring the Complexities of Womanhood'. With a season focused on female-centered stories, the season will open with Lanie Robertson's riveting one woman play with music LADY DAY AT THE EMERSON'S BAR AND GRILL, followed by PECONG by Steve Carter, a resetting of the myth of Medea.

2016 Jimmy Awards Nominees Announced!

THE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL THEATRE AWARDS (NHSMTA)/JIMMY AWARDS has announced that 62 high school students from across America will compete for the Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor and Actress at the eighth annual awards ceremony. The presentation will take place on Monday, June 27th at 7:30PM at the Minskoff Theatre, 200 West 45th Street in Manhattan. Tickets can be purchased by visiting NHSMTA.COM or TICKETMASTER.COM and range from $39 to $89. Premium seats are $250.

Laguna Playhouse's ALL SHOOK UP Opens in July

Laguna Playhouse Artistic Director Ann E. Wareham is thrilled to announce the first show in the Laguna Playhouse 2016-2017 season, the perfect family summertime, fun-time musical, ALL SHOOK UP, book by Joe DiPietro, musical direction by Jeff Biering, choreography by Paula Hammons Sloan and directed by Steve Steiner. 

BWW Review: Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID Swims Beautifully Into La Mirada

Besides the Hollywood Bowl's all-star concert event, THE LITTLE MERMAID also made a splash at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. This visually-gorgeous, fully-staged new production of the film's Broadway stage adaptation---produced locally by McCoy Rigby Entertainment with new staging and direction by Glenn Casale---continues in the city of La Mirada through June 26.

Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston to Present THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, Casting Announced!

Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston will bring the bright lights of 1920's New York City to the stage with the Tony Award-winning musical comedy Thoroughly Modern Mille from July 7-17, 2016.  Millie will run for eight performances at the Robinson Theatre (617 Lexington St. Waltham, MA, 02452).  Directed by Broadway veteran Cynthia Thole (Me and My Girl), Millie will star Gabrielle Carrubba (American Idol Season 11, Spring Awakening) as Millie Dillmount, a small-town girl who arrives in New York City to lead a thoroughly modern life. Millie will also feature Maryann Zschau (Nunsense National Tour) reprising her IRNE Award-winning role as Mrs. Meers (Reagle Music Theater 2006) and IRNE nominee Mark Linehan (Shrek The Musical, South Pacific) as Trevor Graydon.  This lavish musical is filled with fabulous flappers, eccentric New Yorkers and soaring musical numbers including "Forget About the Boy" and "Only In New York."

Grey Gardens/Ahmanson Theatre/July 6 - August 14, 2016 Based on the 1975 documentary of the same name, the story recounts the fall from uppercrust society of mother and daughter Edith Bouvier Beale, eccentric cousins of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, who lived in poverty in East Hampton, New York. Former TUTS Artistic Directors Join The Kaleidoscope Theater

Opening its third season, The Kaleidoscope Theater is proud to welcome Barrymore Award-winning and seasoned Broadway director Bruce Lumpkin as well as award-winning director and dramaturge Marley Wisnoski to the artistic team of Houston's First "Off-Broadway" theater. Well- versed in the creation of great theatre in Houston, Lumpkin and Wisnoski join The Kaleidoscope after serving as Artistic Director and Associate Artistic Director of Theatre Under the Stars. The addition of the company's newest creatives marks the first of many rapid developments for The Kaleidoscope Theater (previously known as Bayou City Theatrics) and for the future of the Houston theatre scene.

TUTS to Stage Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST & WEST SIDE STORY This Summer

Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) invites audiences to fall in love this summer with Disney's Beauty and the Beast & West Side Story, running July 6 - August 20, 2016 at Stanley Park's picturesque Malkin Bowl. On alternating evenings, audiences will be swept away by these classic love stories - one, a beloved fairytale brimming with magic and mystery, and the other an electrifying story of forbidden love in the unforgiving streets of 1950's New York.

Theatre fans and Broadway's biggest behind-the-scenes players went 'all in' last night, May 16, 2016, at the second annual edition of BROADWAY BETS, Broadway's official poker tournament, raising a spectacular $247,800 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Main Street Theatre Works Kicks Off Summer Season with THE EXPLORERS CLUB

Main Street Theatre Works (MSTW) kicks off its 2016 Summer Season at the Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre in Jackson, with The Explorers Club, by Nell Benjamin. The Explorers Club is a comedic look at Victorian adventurers who ponder the mysteries of science and nature, while genteelly getting blotto. What better opportunity for you to pack a picnic dinner, your favorite beverage and take in all the crazy adventures of these infamous explorers. The Explorers Club runs every Friday and Saturday, June 24th - July 23rd. Doors open at 6:30 for picnics; show starts at 8:00. Patrons are encouraged to come early with their dinners, chairs and jackets. The Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre is located at 1127 North Main Street in Jackson.

A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER plays out as if you took SWEENEY TODD, let Gilbert & Sullivan rewrite the score, and staged it on a revolutionary picture book set that utilized digital scenery. It's a show that will have you smiling from start to final curtain, and it's got an amazing amount of energy to share with an audience.

Tom Berklund to Lead NEXT FALL at MACHA THEATRE/FILMS

MACHA Theatre Co. and Treehouse Productions present the Tony Nominated and awarding winning Broadway play NEXT FALL in its 2015-1016 season. Written by Geoffrey Nauffts. NEXT FALL is about two gay men in a committed relationship with a twist, with one, Luke, being devoutly religious and the other, Adam, an atheist. The play revolves around their five-year relationship and how they make it work despite their differences. However, an accident changes everything. NEXT FALL paints a beautiful and funny portrait of modern romance, asking the hard questions about commitment, love, and faith. Directed by Robin Long.
