Playco Announces THE WILDNESS Idea Lab Programming

The Play Company's (PlayCo) Idea Lab series complements the productions in their 2016 season by bringing together artists, scholars, writers and community leaders for stand-alone events to examine themes raised in the shows. Following performances of the world premiere of The Wildness, a co-produced with Ars Nova, Playco will present three post show events over three Thursdays, March 3, 10 & 17.

Alex Brightman Will Host Second Annual Shubert Foundation High School Theatre Festival on 3/7

The second annual Shubert Foundation High School Theatre Festival for New York City Public Schools will take place Monday, March 7 at Broadway's Winter Garden Theatre (1634 Broadway at West 51st Street) at 7 p.m. More than 100 talented students from five select New York City high schools will make their Broadway debuts performing excerpts from their winter productions.

Barrington Stage Names New Artistic Associate/Director of New Play Development

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, has appointed Branden Huldeen as Artistic Associate/Director of New Play Development. Before joining the team at BSC, Branden was the New Works Director and Festival Producing Director for the National Alliance of Musical Theatre (NAMT), a member service organization devoted to the future of musical theatre around the world from 2008-2016.

Rachel Bonds' SWIMMERS to Premiere at Marin Theatre Company

Marin Theatre Company continues its 49th Season with the World Premiere of Rachel Bonds' Rella Lossy Award Winning play, Swimmers. Set in a contemporary office, Bonds' play explores the relationship paradigms of the work space environment through a set of diverse co-workers and their personal lives and habits.

August Wilson's GEM OF THE OCEAN Continues MTC's 49th Season Tonight

Marin Theatre Company continues its 49th Season with August Wilson's GEM OF THE OCEAN. Set in 1904 Pittsburgh, Gem marks the beginning of Wilson's ten-play century cycle dramatizing the African American experience during the 20th century; an unprecedented series that includes the Pulitzer Prize winning Fences and The Piano Lesson.

Updated TKTS App Now Available for Download

Theatre Development Fund (TDF), the not-for profit service organization for the performing arts, has updated its popular TKTS App to simplify the process of purchasing the least expensive same-day tickets to Broadway and Off Broadway shows at its internationally renowned TKTS Discount Booths (Times Square, South Street Seaport and Downtown Brooklyn). LITTLE B'S BIG HOLIDAY WISH Benefit Set for McGinn Cazale Theatre, 12/19

TDF Brings 1,400 NYC High School Students to See KINKY BOOTS Today

1,400 New York City public high school students from 19 schools, representing all five boroughs, who are participating in TDF's Stage Doors Program, will be attending the matinee performance of Broadway's smash hit, KINKY BOOTS today, November 18 at 2pm at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street, NYC).

A CHRISTMAS CAROL Offers Autism-Friendly Performance on November 25

CLEVELAND, OH - Great Lakes Theater (GLT), Cleveland's Classic Company, will present a "sensory-friendly" matinee performance of its 27th annual production of A Christmas Carol for children and adults on the autism spectrum and their families at the Ohio Theatre, Playhouse Square on Wednesday, November 25th at 11:00 a.m. It is produced in partnership with Theatre Development Fund: Autism Theatre Initiative, the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities and Milestones Autism Organization.

Tom Fontana, Paul Fontana & Margot Harley to be Honored at The Acting Company's Gala

The Acting Company (Margot Harley, Co-Founder and Producer), America's best known touring repertory theater, will honor Emmy Award-winner Tom Fontana, educator and student mentor Paul Fontana, and Acting Company Co-founder and Producer Margot Harley at a Gala Benefit evening on Monday, November 9th atCapitale (130 Bowery - between Broome & Grand Sts). Both of the gentlemen will each be presented with the Warburg Humanitarian Award for their outstanding philanthropic endeavors on behalf of children, education and the arts, while Ms. Harley will be saluted for her 43 years of leadership and achievement as she steps down as Producer of The Acting Company.  

Theatre Development Fund Awarded $35,000 Grant for Phase II of 'Triple Play'

Theatre Development Fund (TDF) and Theatre Bay Area (TBA) are pleased to announce that they have received a grant in the amount of $35,000 from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation's Fund for National Projects in support of Phase II of their consortium project, Triple Play. Triple Play explores the crucial relationship between playwrights and other generative artists, theatres and audiences. This exploration aspires to create a paradigm shift in the way the field thinks about audiences and the way audiences experience new work, and in so doing will increase audience appetite for new work and help to restore theatre's relevance as a national art form.
