The producers of HAIR announced today that the new Broadway production, which opened March 31st to critical (and audience) acclaim, has set a new box office record at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street). For the week of April 13 ? 19, HAIR?s net sales were $861,450.48, the highest for any eight-show week at the 1,400 seat theater, which opened in 1924.

The record was held previously by LEGALLY BLONDE for the week ending 12/30/07 (Christmas week) with $1,219,488. For the week ending 4/5/09, WEST SIDE STORY broke that record with $1,234,652 and then last week, for the week ending 4/12/09, shattered its own record with an impressive weekly gross of $1,308,787.
