International Festival of Arts & Innovation at Chautauqua Inst. Ends 6/13

The 1st International Festival of Arts and Innovation will begin on June 11, 2010, at Chautauqua Institution in Western New York State in partnership with The Toronto International Film Festival (known as TIFF.365). Focusing on the best of Canadian Cinema, The Festival will feature the film premiere of CAIRO TIME, followed by a family film event featuring the award-winning ST. RALPH, the story of a 9th grader who outran everyone's expectations except his own in his bold quest to win the Boston Marathon. The Film Festival will also include selected short animated films from the 'Best of TIFF' and the 'TIFF Short Cuts' programs. All film screenings will be at the Chautauqua Cinema.

Humber River Shakespeare Presents TAMING OF THE SHREW, 7/6-8/2

The Humber River Shakespeare Company's annual outdoor theatre performances have become a popular summer tradition in the Humber and York regions. This year, the company returns for a third season with the touring production of THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, from Tuesday, July 6th to Monday, August 2nd. For the first time, the company will be touring in Alton, Mississauga and Caledon East.

Broadway's Larry French Passes Away At 58

Larry French, Broadway actor and concert artist, died in his sleep on May 28, 2010 of a massive heart attack. He was 58. A graduate of Howard Paine University, he first came to New York City in 1978 from Dallas, Texas, to pursue a career in acting, and shortly thereafter met his wife of 30 years, Jeanne Lehman French, in the Carleton Davis tour of CAMELOT.

Kennedy, Chioran, Young et al. Set For EVITA At Stratford Shakespeare Festival, 5/28-8/30

Beginning previews tonight, May 28 at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival will be a new production of EVITA directed by Gary Griffin. The show will play at the Avon Theatre in Startford, Ontario. Starring in the show will be Chilina Kennedy as Eva Peron and Josh Young as Che Guevara. Juan Chioran will play President Juan Peron, and Vince Staltai will play Magaldi.

Circus Theatricals opens it 2010 Season with The West Coast Premiere of More Lies About Jerzy by Davey Holmes (WGA Award-winner for In Treatment) and directed by David Trainer (That ‘70s Show) and produced by Jeannine Wisnosky Stehlin.

Brent Carver Stars in JACQUES BREL Revue At Stratford Shakespeare Festival, 5/14-9/25

Tony Award winner Brent Carver is set to star in JACQUES BREL IS ALIVE AND WELL AND LIVING IN PARIS at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival beginning May 14. The musical revue features the songs of Belgian singer-songwriter Jacques Brel. This production will be directed by Stafford Arima. JACQUES BREL will begin previews on May 14 and will officially open on June 11 and is set to close on September 25.

Jones & Dukakis Lead Roundabout Productions in 2010-2011 Season

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced two additional productions as part of the 2010-2011 theatrical season. Cherry Jones will be starring in George Bernard Shaw's Mrs. Warren's Profession, directed by Doug Hughes. Olympia Dukakis will star in Tennessee Williams' The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore, directed by Michael Wilson.

Performance Network Theatre Announces Online Auction

Performance Network Theatre is pleased to announce that their online auction is now live! The auction is in conjunction with the 'Taste of the Season (Party for the Arty)' fundraiser which includes fifteen theatre-themed fundraising parties, taking place from April 15-25 in a variety of locations around Ann Arbor. Private homes, restaurants, performance spaces and even barns will host unique and intimate gatherings from Cuban Fiestas to Provencal (Indoor) Picnics.

Havok Theatre's THE STORY OF MY LIFE Ends Run on 4/18

Winner of the 2008/09 L.A. Stage Alliance Ovation Award for its critically-acclaimed production of Kiss of the Spider Woman (Best Musical - Intimate Theatre), Havok Theatre Company will close its first production of 2010, the critically-acclaimed (LA Times CRITICS' CHOICE, Backstage CRITIC'S PICK), Los Angeles Premiere of the Broadway musical THE STORY OF MY LIFE on April 18th. The show features music and lyrics by Neil Bartram, book by Brian Hill, musical direction by Michael Paternostro and directed by Havok's Artistic Director and Ovation Award-winner Nick DeGruccio and starring Robert J. Townsend and Chad Borden.

The Hypocrites Present CABARET at the Chicago DCA Storefront Theater 4/15-5/23

The Hypocrites, in association with Chicago DCA Theater, present the Broadway classic Cabaret. The production, directed by Matt Hawkins, comes to Chicago DCA Theater's Storefront Theater at 66 E. Randolph Street, from April 15 to May 23, 2010. Members of the press are invited to the opening performance on Saturday, April 17, at 7:30 pm.
