The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announced today that NAMT alum and Broadway composer/lyricist Andrew Lippa will host a Songwriters Showcase as part of the 23rd Annual Festival of New Musicals on Friday, October 28 from 1:30-2:30pm at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

The world premiere of acclaimed actor/writer Alan Alda's Radiance: The Passion of Marie Curie, a bioplay about the passions and conflicts of the first woman to be awarded a Nobel Prize, will feature Anna Gunn as the title character.

Based on true events, ORSON'S SHADOW is an ingenious tale of two Hollywood giants-Orson Welles and Laurence Olivier. The time is 1960; the place is a West End theatre. Legendary critic Kenneth Tynan has made a startling proposal: Welles should direct Olivier and the young Joan Plowright in Rhinoceros, Ionesco's absurdist masterpiece. But it is the rehearsal process that brims with absurdity as titanic personalities, including Vivien Leigh, wrestle the muse in this witty and incisive depiction of the drama of theatre.

Quintessence Theatre Group launches its second season with two classic comedies: Carlo Goldoni's THE VENETIAN TWINS, in a translation by Ranjit Bolt, and William Shakespeare's THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, to be presented in repertory and directed by Alexander Burns.

The summer's most acclaimed new play, The Best of Enemies, by Mark St. Germain (author of Freud's Last Session), returns to Barrington Stage Company, the award-winning theatre in downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, for a run from tonight through 16 at the BSC Mainstage, 30 Union Street, Pittsfield. The press opening is Saturday, October 8 at 8pm.

James Vásquez directs THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW at The Old Globe, with book, music and lyrics by Richard O'Brien, choreography by JT Horenstein and music direction by Mike Wilkins. The Rocky Horror Show will run in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center through November 6. Arden Theatre Company 2011/12 main stage season continues with The Whipping Man a Civil War drama by Matthew Lopez and directed by Matt Pfeiffer. This story of legacy and redemption will appear on the Arden's Arcadia Stage from October 27-December 18, 2011.

Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) announces a special FREE reading of Safe Home, a play by New York City (NYC) playwright/actor and Buffalo native Sean Cullen. The reading will be presented at 7:30 PM on Friday, November 4 th , 2011 at the Road Less Traveled Theater in Downtown Buffalo.

Katselas Theatre Company's World Premiere production of A Death in Colombia by Shem Bitterman (Influence, Harm's Way, The Job) directed by Steve Zuckerman (Everybody Say Cheese, Nuts) at The Skylight Theatre 1816 N. Vermont Ave. LA 90027 will close on October 2, 2011.

The ODYSSEY, with Music, Lyrics and Book by Todd Almond and Conceived and Directed by Lear deBessonet will run Sept. 30 - Oct. 2, 2011 at the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre.

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced a luncheon to laud The Old Globe's corporate donors for their outstanding annual fund support. The Annual Corporate Appreciation Event will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, Oct. 20 in Hattox Hall, located in the Karen and Donald Cohn Education Center at the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Optional tours of the theatre complex will be available at 11:30 a.m.

American Rose Theatre (ART), an award-winning, San Diego based non-profit educational theater company, announces their fall production of Spring Awakening, a new musical from the Tony and Grammy award-winning pair, Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater, with 10 performances October 28 - November 6, 2011 at The Lyceum Space in Horton Plaza, downtown San Diego.
