American Composers Orchestra Announces 2017-2018 Season - DREAMSCAPES

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) announces its complete 2017-2018 season, Dreamscapes, under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel, Music Director George Manahan, and President Edward Yim, featuring ten world, U.S., and New York premieres by a diverse set of composers. ACO continues its concerts at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall (December 8, 2017 and April 6, 2018) while expanding its presence in New York to include performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center (November 7, 2017) and as part of the 2018 PROTOTYPE Festival (January 12-14, 2018). ACO continues to take its commitment to fostering new work beyond the stage in its annual Underwood New Music Readings (June 21 and 22, 2018) for emerging composers, now in its 27th year, and through EarShot, the National Orchestra Composition Discovery Network, which brings the Readings experience to orchestras across the country.

Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival 2017 to Close with Budapest Festival Orchestra's DON GIOVANNI

Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival concludes its 51st season with a revival of the acclaimed Budapest Festival Orchestra production of Don Giovanni, directed and conducted by Ivan Fischer, with a cast led by baritone Christopher Maltman; Renee and Robert Belfer Music Director Louis Langree leading two Festival Orchestra programs featuring pianist Kirill Gerstein in his Mostly Mozart debut and violinist Gil Shaham; a special appearance by Langree on piano in a pre-concert recital with Susanna Phillips; and Mostly Mozart artists-in-residence International Contemporary Ensemble performing a nature-inspired program by three pioneering female composers and featuring Wu Wei in his festival debut.

Sarasota Opera Announces Casting for 2017-18 Season

World premieres, new productions, and exciting artist debuts will make the 59th season at Sarasota Opera a season not to miss. Highlights of the upcoming year include the return of Giuseppe Verdi, the 6th Sarasota Youth Opera world premiere, and operas by composers such as Vincenzo Bellini and Eugen D'Albert whose operas have not been heard on our stage.

BWW Previews: FRIDA at Cincinnati Opera Offers an Insightful View of the Artist

In a unique production, Cincinnati Opera offers FRIDA by composer Robert Xavier Rodriguez with libretto by Hilary Blecher and Migdalia Cruz.  An opera filled with music drawn from Mexican folklore and American influences, such as George Gershwin, FRIDA covers the life of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo (1907 - 1954). 

ATTACK OF THE ELVIS IMPERSONATORS Brings Hound Dog Fever Off-Broadway Tomorrow

Elvis is in the house!  Opening Night of the New York premiere of Attack of the Elvis Impersonators, the zany new musical that will leave you howling for more, with book, music and lyrics by Lory Lazarus, at The Lion Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th & 10th Avenues) is tomorrow, June 15, 2017 at 8:00 p.m.

ATTACK OF THE ELVIS IMPERSONATORS Debuts Off-Broadway Tonight at Theatre Row

Performances begin TONIGHT for the New York premiere of Attack of the Elvis Impersonators, the zany new musical that will leave you howling for more, with book, music and lyrics by Lory Lazarus, at The Lion Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th & 10th Avenues). Opening Night is Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 8:00 p.m.

Sir Andrew Davis to Act as TSO's Interim Artistic Director

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) announces today that Sir Andrew Davis will act as Interim Artistic Director for two seasons following the conclusion of Peter Oundjian's 14-year tenure as Music Director at the end of the 2017/18 season. Maestro Davis will provide artistic leadership through to the middle of 2020, when the TSO anticipates that a new permanent Music Director will be in place.

PAMPLONA, Starring Stacy Keach, Extends at the Goodman

Audiences now have eight more chances to see stage and screen star Stacy Keach in his tour-de-force performance as Chicagoland native son, Ernest Hemingway. Goodman Theatre announces that playwright Jim McGrath's newest work - Pamplona, which begins preview performances tomorrow - has been extended for one week, now closing on Sunday, June 25.

WFMT to Re-Broadcast Lyric Opera's 2016/17 Season

Beginning on Saturday, May 20, and continuing every Saturday through July 22, The Lyric Opera Broadcasts of the 2016/17 Lyric Opera of Chicago season will air nationally and internationally by The WFMT Radio Network and locally on 98.7WFMT. The opera broadcasts may also be streamed on WFMT.com.
