The Civilians' THIS BEAUTIFUL CITY Begins Previews 2/3

The Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street) will present the New York premiere of The Civilians' newest work This Beautiful City, in a co-production with Los Angeles' Center Theatre Group, with previews set to begin February 3 prior to its official press opening February 22. Steven Cosson directs.

BROOKLYN AT EYE LEVEL To Be Made Into A Full-Length Play

The Civilians (Steven Cosson, Artistic Director) the award-winning New York-based theater company, have announced that they will commission a full-length play from their newest project, Brooklyn at Eye Level, following a successful series of initial performances. The show played to capacity crowds December 4 - 7 at The Brooklyn Lyceum and was embraced by the entire community as an important contribution to the often contentious debate surrounding the Atlantic Yards development.

Berkeley Rep Presents Its 50th World Premiere: In the Next Room Starting Jan 30

Berkeley Repertory Theatre greets the new year by proudly presenting its 50th world premiere, a new comedy about marriage, intimacy, and electricity from the creators of Eurydice. Celebrated playwright Sarah Ruhl and Obie Award-winning director Les Waters come together again for the debut of In the Next Room (or the vibrator play). Commissioned by Berkeley Rep and staged in the state-of-the-art Roda Theatre, this hotly anticipated play begins previews on January 30, opens February 4, and closes March 15. BART and Wells Fargo serve as season sponsors for Berkeley Rep's 41st year of fearless theatre, and the executive producer for this show is the Strauch Kulhanjian Family.

VINEYARD THEATRE Honors Marian Seldes At Rainbow Room 2/9

The Vineyard Theatre -- where Marian Seldes originated her role in Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning play THREE TALL WOMEN in 1993 -- will honor the Tony Award-winning actress at the theatre's annual gala on Monday, February 9th at 6 PM at The Rainbow Room (30 Rockefeller Plaza, 65th floor) in Manhattan.

Civilians Theatre Co To Premiere BROOKLYN AT EYE LEVEL 12/4-12/7

The Civilians (Steven Cosson, Artistic Director), the award-winning New York-based theater company, will premiere a work-in-progress performance of their newest project, Brooklyn at Eye Level December 4-7, 2008 at The Brooklyn Lyceum (227 4th Avenue). Performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday begin at 8:00 p.m with 3:00 p.m. matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday. In addition, a number of special guests will act as host for each performance, introducing the show and participating in post-performance discussions with the artists. Special guests include Theo Moore of FUREE on Thursday, Michele De la Uz of the Fifth Avenue Committee on Friday, Deb Howard of the Pratt Area Community Council on Saturday evening and Gilly Youner of the Park Slope Civic Council on Sunday afternoon.

The Civilians to Present 'Brooklyn at Eye Level'

The Civilians (Steven Cosson, Artistic Director), the award-winning New York-based innovative theater troupe, today announced their newest project: Brooklyn at Eye Level, a long-term investigation of development in Brooklyn and its effect on neighborhood and community. For this work the company will connect artists, community members and local youth using their signature creative process grounded in documentary art. Brooklyn at Eye Level will examine the surge of development in Brooklyn, with a specific focus on the controversial Atlantic Yards project and its effect on the surrounding communities of Fort Greene, Boreum Hill, Downtown Brooklyn, Crown Heights, Park Slope and Prospect Heights.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Extends 'Lady' For Two Additional Weeks

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (David Van Asselt, Artistic Director and Sandra Coudert, Managing Director) has announced a two-week extension (through October 11) of Lady, the provocative new play by Craig Wright (The Pavilion). Directed by Dexter Bullard (Bug), the critically acclaimed production is being produced in association with Barrow Street Theatre. Performances began Thursday, August 28th, 2008. Opening night was Monday, September 8th at 7pm. The show will run now run through Saturday, October 11, 2008.
