The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center Announces Dates and Curators for the 2014 Prelude Festival, 10/8-10/10

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center at The Graduate Center, CUNY is pleased to announce the 2014 PRELUDE FESTIVAL. The annual festival is dedicated to artists at the forefront of contemporary New York City theatre and performance. Following the enormous success of its tenth anniversary in 2013, the eleventh annual PRELUDE festival will be curated by Chloe Bass, Jackie Sibblies Drury, Sarah Rose Leonard, Allison Lyman, and Frank Hentschker. Artists and participants of the festival will be announced in late July 2014.

LABA to Present MOTHER.NET, 6/19-22

LABA: A Laboratory for Jewish Culture, working in collaboration with choreographer Renana Raz, whose work has been called "brilliant" by the Israeli press, is pleased to announce the first-ever international production of MOTHER.NET. The show aims to take the usually isolated experience of watching YouTube videos and turns it into a public experience. Artists will respond to YouTube clips on the theme of mother through dance, theater, music, storytelling, and audience interaction.

Long Wharf Theatre to Present Split Knuckle's ENDURANCE, Begin. 6/17

Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, CT will present Split Knuckle Theatre's ENDURANCE beginning June 17. Endurance is devised and performed by Jason Bohon, Andrew Grusetskie, Michael Toomey, and Greg Webster. The creative team includes Nick Ryan (collaborating writer), Ken Clark (musical composition), Dan Rousseau (lighting), and Carmen Torres (stage manager.)

The Civilians Present ANNUAL R&D READING SERIES, Now thru 5/30

The Civilians' Annual R&D reading series kicks off with five readings from today, May 21 to May 30. The series features new work by R&D members Jeanine Oleson, Sean E. Cunningham, Riti Sachdeva, Mary Kathryn Nagle, Juliana Francis Kelly and Tony Torn. Melissa Crespo, Mia Rovegno, and Michael Leibenluft will direct these presentations, all at various stages in their development process. These readings are free and open to the public, and take place in the Great Room at 138 South Oxford Street in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.

The Civilians to Play Final 'LET ME ASCERTAIN YOU' of Season at Joe's Pub on 5/17

The Civilians' original cabaret series is back at Joe's Pub on Saturday, May 17th at 7:00pm with Let Me Ascertain You: F*cking & Dying. This one night event will explore what happens when death and sex fixations collide. This unique cabaret of original songs and monologues looks at the duality of human nature and our competing sex and death drives, or to get Freudian, Eros vs. Thanatos. Hear some of New York's hottest downtown performers and musicians reveal tales of morbid curiosities and dirty secrets on the path to nirvana.

The Tony Randall Theatrical Fund just announced the award winners for the 2014-2015 season. Furthering its commitment to non-profit theater companies, innovative productions, initiatives in the arts education and arts-based community outreach programs, TRTF grants aid the growth and development of each organization.

Theatre Artists Present New Works at Weston Playhouse Event Today

The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company will introduce the creative teams behind four new musicals during a Salon Reception at its Playhouse on the Village Green, today, May 3rd from 4 to 6 pm. The culmination of Weston's seventh annual Artists Retreat week, the salon reception is free and open to the public with no reservations necessary.

CoHo Productions Presents MAPLE & VINE, Now thru 5/24

CoHo Productions presents the third and final play of their 2013/14 Season: Maple and Vine by Jordan Harrison, co-produced and directed by Megan Kate Ward. Maple and Vine will open tonight, May 2, 2014 and run through May 24, 2014.

New Georges to Offer Workshop Presentations & Cabaret Shows as Part of Jam On Toast at Dixon Place, 5/14-31

New Georges (Susan Bernfield, Producing Artistic Director; Sarah Cameron Sunde, Deputy Artistic Director; Jaynie Saunders Tiller, Managing Director) will present workshop presentations of new plays by Jam artists Dipika Guha (The Architecture of Becoming with Women's Project), Mary Elizabeth Hamilton (current member of EST's Youngblood), and Anna Moench (The Pillow Book at 59E59; Gormanzee at The Flea) as part of The New Georges Jam On Toast, a brand-new play festival featuring work by The New Georges Jam, a 'performance gym' for early-career female playwrights and directors founded in 2010 by Lucy Alibar, Jess Chayes, and Portia Krieger. The works in progress will be directed by Sarah Krohn (Victor Frange Presents Gas at Incubator Arts Project; 2013 Boris Sagal Fellow at Williamstown Theatre Festival), Pirronne Yousefzadeh (QVC with Partial Comfort; The Tenant with Woodshed Collective), and Adrienne Campbell-Holt (Colt Coeur's Fish Eye at HERE; Missed Connections with Ars Nova). The festival will also feature cabaret-style pieces and special presentations by Sofia Alvarez (Between Us Chickens at South Coast Rep), Eliza Bent (Blue Wizard/Black Wizard at Incubator Arts Project; The Hotel Colors at The Bushwick Starr), Mary Birnbaum (Artistic Director of art.party.theater.company), Katie Brook (She Is King at Dixon Place; American Realism at The Invisible Dog), Meghan Finn (Take Me Home with Incubator Arts Project/3LD; Erin Courtney's The Service Road; Mac Wellman's AFAR at Dixon Place), Morgan Gould (co-creator of Young Jean Lee's Untitled Feminist Show),Caroline V.
