Local Talent Spotlighted in ARMS AND THE MAN, Now thru 6/14

For its tenth season, the Northern New England Repertory Theatre Company (NNE Rep) presents George Bernard Shaw's romantic comedy Arms and the Man on the Sawyer Center stage at Colby-Sawyer College. In this delicious romantic confection, Shaw's barbed wit targets themes of love, honor, and illusions, and serves up laughs aplenty at the foibles of human nature. NNE Rep's production of Arms and the Man will run for seven performances from today, June 5th through June 14th.

The Pacific Symphony Presents CIRQUE DE LA SYMPHONIE Tonight

Music soars to stunning new heights along with aerial fliers and acrobats, when they (plus contortionists, dancers, jugglers and strongmen) perform their death- and gravity-defying Cirque feats to popular classical masterpieces—all live, on stage and dramatically backed by a full orchestra for Pacific Symphony Pops. This jaw-dropping fusion of two art forms wows Symphony audiences of all ages for a third time, as the internationally recognized and award-winning artists of “Cirque de la Symphonie” take to the air and push themselves to the limit in a “spectacular event” that couples the “magical musical styling of Pacific Symphony” with the “playfulness of acrobats sharing the same stage,” according to A Taste of Dawn Magazine in a review that followed a performance in April 2012.

Only one man can cut through massive bureaucratic duplicity and reveal what happened to the suspected anarchist who died from a fall out of a fourth-floor police station window. Did he jump? Or was he pushed? In this contemporary take on a beloved classic, Berkeley Rep hauls you down to the station for a hilarious interrogation of our culture.
