New Perspectives Theatre Company And The School for Drama At the New School Presents The Works of Teresa Deevy

On Her Shoulders is pleased to present staged readings of three plays by Irish dramatist Teresa Deevy, directed by Kristin Heckler on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Doors open at 6:45pm for a 7:00pm start with The Play in Context by Melody Brooks, who situates the scripts in their historical time and place, followed by the readings and a post-performance Q&A with refreshments. Admission is by Donation ($10 suggested). The performance is at The New School: Starr Foundation Hall, University Center, 63 Fifth Avenue, Room UL102. Brandon Cole's IMPERFECT LOVE Extends at The Connelly Theater

Due to popular demand, The Left Wing, in association with John Turturro, extends the world premiere production of Brandon Cole's Imperfect Love to February 25. Directed by Michael Di Jiacomo, Imperfect Love is inspired by the tumultuous life of the great Italian actress Eleonora Duse (1858-1924) and her nine-year love affair with the poet and playwright Gabriele D'Annunzio (1863-1938). The production, which is set to open on February 4, runs at The Connelly Theater and features set and costume design by the Academy Award-winning Italian designer Gianni Quaranta (Merchant-Ivory's A Room with a View). Turturro's 1998 film, Illuminata, which was co-written by Cole and Turturro, was based on Cole's Imperfect Love.

The Drama Book Shop proudly welcomes Mint Theater Company's Artistic Director Jonathan Bank for a discussion about the company's devotion to rediscovering lost plays and its current production, A Day By The Sea. The event, which is free to the public, will take place on Wednesday, August 17th at 5:00PM. Bank will be joined by critic and historian Peter Filichia.
