The New 42nd Street's annual Gala was held last night, January 12 at The New Victory Theater, to honor Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe Award-winner John Lithgow with the New Victory Arts Award for his work in 'bringing kids to the arts and the arts to kids.' The New 42nd Street also honored The Rudin Family with the inaugural Marian Heiskell Award for their role in shaping the future of New York City. Glenn Close served as Gala honorary chair. National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Jane Chu has announced that The Collegiate Chorale is one of only 919 nonprofit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. The Collegiate Chorale will receive a $30,000 grant in support of its May 2015 concert and CD recording of Kurt Weill and Franz Werfel's musical epic, The Road of Promise.

A funny thing happened on the way to Handel's MESSIAH: That would be Monty Python's LIFE OF BRIAN, transformed from the film by Eric Idle (the jokes) and John Du Prez (the music) into NOT THE MESSIAH (HE'S A VERY NAUGHTY BOY). This comic oratorio resulted in a very jolly evening, which The Collegiate Chorale brought to Carnegie Hall, under conductor and director Ted Sperling.
