Vineyard Theatre Extends BROOKLYNITE to March 29

The Vineyard Theatre announced today that due to demand the world premiere of the original musical BROOKLYNITE will extend its limited engagement by one week and will now run through Sunday, March 29. Helmed by Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer (HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, SPRING AWAKENING), BROOKLYNITE opened on Wednesday, February 25.

Alana Arenas Stars in David Adjmi's MARIE ANTOINETTE, Beginning Tonight at Steppenwolf

Steppenwolf Theatre Company continues its 2014/15 Subscription Season with the Chicago premiere production of Marie Antoinette, a modern, witty portrayal of the young queen of France by David Adjmi and directed by Robert O'Hara. The cast features ensemble members Alana Arenas as Marie Antoinette, Tim Hopper as her husband Louis XVI and Alan Wilder as Sheep.

UCSB Department of Theater/Dance to Present IN THE RED AND BROWN WATER, 2/27-3/7

The Department of Theater/Dance at UC Santa Barbara presents a play by 2013 MacArthur fellowTarell Alvin McCraney, In the Red and Brown Water. Drawing on folk tales, Yoruba mythology and contemporary poets, this first work in McCraney's The Brother/Sister Plays trilogy tells a coming-of-age story set in a Louisiana bayou housing project.

Matt Doyle, Ann Harada & More Star in Vineyard Theatre's BROOKLYNITE, Beginning Tonight

Vineyard Theatre presents the world premiere of the musical BROOKLYNITE, helmed by Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer (HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, SPRING AWAKENING), beginning performances tonight, January 30th, with an opening night set for Wednesday February 25th. Trustus Theatre to Stage IN THE RED AND BROWN WATER, Now thru 2/7

Trustus Theatre is bringing a fresh voice in American playwriting to Columbia as they open Tarell Alvin McCraney's In the Red and Brown Water, part one of a trilogy called The Brother/Sister Plays. This play is likened to a choreopoem where poetry, prose, music, and movement come together to tell a story. This unique script and ambitious production will open on the Thigpen Main Stage tonight, January 23rd at 8:00pm. The show will run through Saturday, February 7th, 2015.

Michael Halberstam to Direct Definition Theatre Company's A DOLL HOUSE

Definition Theatre Company has announced the second show of its 2014/15 season, an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House. Directed by Writers Theatre Artistic Director Michael Halberstam, A Doll's House runs April 3 - May 3, 2015; the press performance is on Thursday, April 9 at 7:30pm. Performances are scheduled Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 4:00pm at the Chopin Theatre (1543W Division Street). Tickets, $25, are on sale now at definitiontheatre.org.

11th Alliance/Kendeda Competition Winner to Premiere in February

The Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition continues to spotlight the best emerging playwrights with a full production for the competition winner and staged readings for four competition finalists. THE C.A. Lyons Project, the 11th competition winner, will premiere on the Hertz Stage February 13 - March 8, 2015. Opening night is February 18, 2015.

Public Theater to Present THE LONG CHRISTMAS DINNER as Part of Public Forum, 12/14

The Public Theater announced the return of Public Forum's holiday tradition, a one-night-only Drama Club reading and discussion of THE LONG CHRISTMAS DINNER on Sunday, December 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Joe's Pub at The Public. Just in time for the holidays, this exciting evening will feature a reading of Thornton Wilder's 1931 one-act featuring Tarell Alvin McCraney, Ethan Lipton, Andrew Solomon, and Tappan Wilder. Wilder's ingenious, heartbreaking play traces 90 years in the life of an American family, and will spark a discussion about family and storytelling in a society that's rapidly accelerating.

MTC's BY THE WATER Enters Final Week of Performances
