Two moving new musicals will premiere at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August - the result of a transatlantic collaboration between two world-renowned performing arts institutions.

Musical Theatre Network and Mercury Musical Developments today announce Hannah Chissick, Adam Lenson, James Dacre, Peter Rowe, Josh Seymour, Tania Azevedo, Cressida Carre and Kate Golledge as directors for the eight 25-minute extracts from new musicals to be presented at BEAM2018.

The cast and creative team has been announced for the World Premiere of The ToyBoy Diaries, the new British musical that is to be the first production staged in 2018 at the critically-acclaimed Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester.

Parenthood, grief and personal-identity are among the themes explored from different viewpoints in an exciting new collaboration between one of the UK's most prolific female playwrights, Sabrina Mahfouz, and Giants Theatre Company's Artistic Director and established playwright, Jennie Buckman. The project will be part-funded by a 15,000 Arts Council grant recently award to Giants.

The ToyBoy Diaries, adapted from the best-selling memoirs by Wendy Salisbury, runs from Thursday 18 January to Saturday 10 February 2018 and is the first of five in-house musicals this year from the successful collaboration between Joseph Houston and William Whelton, co-founders of Hope Mill Theatre and producer Katy Lipson, of Aria Entertainment.
