The New York Choral Society (NYCHORAL) and Orchestra and Music Director David Hayes, on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 3:00 pm at Carnegie Hall, will present the rarely heard St. Paul by Felix Mendelssohn. Soloists will include soprano Sarah Shafer, mezzo-soprano Haejung Shin, tenor Vale Rideout, baritone Mark Delavan and the Princeton Girlchoir. David Hayes will conduct. The Passion of Anne Frank, a haunting, major, new oratorio based on the Diary of Anne Frank, with music and lyrics composed by 125 high school students from downtown Los Angeles' Ramon C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts, is being premiered by the students in conjunction with the Los Angeles Master Chorale Chamber Singers, professional instrumentalists, and student soloists in free matinee and evening performances on Thursday, January 22, at noon, and Friday, January 23, at 7 pm, at the high school's main auditorium.

New York, NY - Bang on a Can: Beauty Is Power, a concert featuring 'cello goddess' (The New Yorker) Maya Beiser, will take place at the Jewish Museum on Thursday, January 29 at 7:30pm. Tied to the Museum's exhibition, Helena Rubinstein: Beauty Is Power, the first exhibition about the legendary cosmetics entrepreneur and trendsetting art collector Helena Rubinstein, the performance will highlight powerful women composers. Festival General Director Nigel Redden has today announced the program for the 39th annual Spoleto Festival USA, taking place May 22 through June 7, 2015. Held in Charleston, South Carolina, the Festival includes the world premiere of the opera Paradise Interrupted composed by Huang Ruo and designed and directed by visual artist Jennifer Wen Ma, the American premiere and first performances in over 350 years of Francesco Cavalli's baroque opera Veremonda, l'amazzone di Aragona, and the first US performances of a new production of Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare's Globe directed by the company's Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole and Tim Hoare.

Music Director Jacques Lacombe and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra open the NJSO's 2014-15 concert season this weekend, October 10-12 with Orff's Carmina Burana in Newark, New Brunswick and Morristown. The concert opens with New Jersey composer George Antheil's McKonkey's Ferry as part of both the NJSO's New Jersey Roots Project and NJ350--a celebration of the Garden State's 350th anniversary in 2014. Debussy's Nocturnes rounds out the opening program.
