The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. is pleased to present select winners and finalists from The A.W.A.R.D. Show! series of 2009 and 2010 at Joyce SoHo from May 31- June 5. In shared programs, twelve winners and finalists from series at The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago, On the Boards (Seattle) and Joyce SoHo (New York City) will perform works that they either showed in their respective cities or that they created after they received cash awards

Matías Tarnopolsky, Director of Cal Performances, the internationally distinguished arts presenter based on the campus of UC Berkeley, announces the 2011-2012 season featuring the United States premiere of the Desdemona project, a new work by Peter Sellars and Toni Morrison, inspired by Othello; a three-concert residency by the Mariinsky Orchestra of St. Petersburg performing the six Tchaikovsky symphonies; and the Cal Performances debuts of actor John Malkovich in The Infernal Comedy: Confessions of a Serial Killer, a work that combines theater, opera and music, and countertenor Philippe Jaroussky.

The Tribeca Film Festival today announced that the world premiere of Cameron Crowe's documentary The Union will open the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by American Express. A performance by the film's subject - Elton John - will follow the free, outdoor screening to kick off the Festival's 10th edition and thank the New York City community for its ongoing support.

A.R.T. American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) will present The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, opening the A.R.T.'s 2011-2 season on August 117 at the Loeb Drama Center. The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, by George Gershwin, DuBose and Dorothy Heyward, and Ira Gershwin, is adapted by Suzan-Lori Parks and Diedre Murray, and directed by A.R.T.
