Pacific Symphony to Provide Live Accompaniment to 1925 Film BEN-HUR, 3/18
by Matt Smith
- Feb 25, 2016
Orange County, Calif.—Feb. 25, 2016—Pacific Symphony, led by Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman, brings one of the most legendary silent films ever made—the 1925 larger-than-life “Ben-Hur”—to full breath-taking splendor in the concert hall, when the orchestra performs the score live as the movie is shown on the giant screen. The score—newly composed for the classic Hollywood hit—was written by Stewart Copeland, former drummer for “The Police,” who performs on drums and a myriad of percussion instruments (including trash cans to create the sounds of the Roman troops), alongside the orchestra for this movie extravaganza. With its enormous cast and crew and a visual scope that is awe-inspiring to this day, “Ben-Hur” tells the tale of a Jewish prince who is betrayed and sent into slavery by a Roman friend, but lives to regain his freedom and return for revenge. Buckle your seat belt for a wild chariot race, bloody battle scenes at sea and music that enhances every minute of it—all the ingredients for a very special event.

BWW Review: ZOOLANDER 2 is Stupid, Cameo-Filled Trip in All the Ways You'd Expect
by Matt Tamanini
- Feb 15, 2016
Just in case you were worried that the 15 years between ZOOLANDER 2 and the original male model comedy would lessen the latter's wacky sense of humor, fear not, ZOOLANDER 2 is every bit as stupid as the original, and for fans of the first film, that might be enough to overcome the lack of originality in the sequel's extremely thin plot.

by Christina Mancuso
- Feb 10, 2016
Barking Rain Press, a non-profit fiction publisher, announced the paperback and eBook release of 'Damaged Souls: A Detective Inspector White Caper,' the third book in the D.I. White Mysteries series from UK authors Jack Everett and David Coles. The authors have written other books together, including 'Damaged Goods,' 'Damage Limitation,' and 'The Diamond Seekers.' A fourth book in the D.I. White Mysteries series, 'Damage Done,' is also in the works.
A day of reckoning-both personal and professional-is at hand for Detective Inspector Stewart White in the third installment of the D.I. White Mysteries. While White's team closes in on an elusive heroin smuggling operation, a prominent television executive reports that her twin teenage daughters have been abducted. The high-profile case is assigned to White, who must now divide his attention between the kidnapping and the heroin sting operation.
That leaves little time to console his one-time lover, Connie Cleghorn, when she returns to the UK to take her mentally ill brother back to Florida for treatment. In stark contrast, his father is diving deeper into a heady love affair of his own-forcing White to consider whether his inability to maintain a lasting relationship is due to his job or to his own shortcomings. The two cases-and relationships-threaten to spiral out of control towards conclusions that are sure to surprise.
