Lincoln Center's MOSTLY MOZART FESTIVAL 2014 Opening Week Highlights

The 2014 Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center, New York's acclaimed annual summer celebration of classical music, gets underway with an opening week of performances featuring the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, late night recitals and contemporary music, including two free events.

VRS' 2014-15 Season to Include Emanuel Ax, Igudesman & Joo and More

Vancouver Recital Society (VRS) proudly announces its 2014-15 Season: an international array of classical greats and rising stars who will share their gifts in the most intimate of contexts. As VRS audiences have come to expect, the season boasts both musical icons and longtime favourites, such as Andras Schiff and Paul Lewis, coupled with emerging talents making their Canadian debuts. The occasion also marks the launch of VRS' bold, new visual identity following almost a decade of operation without a distinguishable logo or brand.

Lincoln Center Announces MOSTLY MOZART FESTIVAL 2014, 7/25-8/23

Jane Moss, Ehrenkranz Artistic Director, today announced the 48th season of Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival, New York's acclaimed annual summer celebration of classical music, which runs from July 25-August 23, 2014. This year's Festival will feature more than 35 events across several venues including concerts, opera, dance, pre-concert recitals and lectures, late-night performances, contemporary music, and premieres of two commissioned works. The Festival kicks off with two free events: the world premiere of a new work by John Luther Adams, performed July 25 and 26 for free on Hearst Plaza, in a joint presentation with Lincoln Center Out of Doors, and continuing an annual tradition, the free preview concert by the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra at Avery Fisher Hall on July 26. Renee and Robert Belfer Music Director Louis Langree returns for his 12th season to conduct the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra, which will perform a wide range of works anchored by the Festival's featured namesake. Mostly Mozart will also present world-renowned artists and returning Festival favorites, such as violinist Joshua Bell, Mark Morris Dance Group, Emerson String Quartet and Artists-in-Residence International Contemporary Ensemble, as well as 14 Festival debuts, including pianists Yuja Wang and Steven Osborne, and violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja.

Lincoln Center Unveils 2014-15 Great Performers Season

The 49th season of Lincoln Center's Great Performers series, which will run from November 2, 2014 through May 10, 2015, was announced today by Jane Moss, Ehrenkranz Artistic Director. Highlighting the season are the return of the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig, led by Riccardo Chailly and of Michael Tilson Thomasconducting the London Symphony Orchestra. The "Art of the Song" series returns in 2015 with recitals by four outstanding vocal artists. The 2014-2015 season also features a period-instrument chamber orchestra series, a recital series, and a film series, and includes pre- and post-concert discussions and lectures. A new series, "Complimentary Classical" will bring four compelling string quartets to the David Rubenstein Atrium in free concerts in 2015.

Russian Pianist Pavel Kolesnikov Wins 2012 Honens International Piano Competition

Russian pianist Pavel Kolesnikov has been named the Prize Laureate of the 2012 Honens International Piano Competition. Mr. Kolesnikov (age 23) receives the $100,000 Enbridge Prize (cash, CAD) and an artistic and career development program valued at a half million dollars - the largest award of its kind. Finalists Lorenzo Cossi (Italy), Maria Mazo (Russia), Jong-Hai Park (South Korea) and Eric Zuber (United States) each received $10,000 (CAD) prizes and semi-finalist Zenan Yu of China was awarded the $2,500 Raeburn Prize for Artist of Special Promise.

Grant Park Music Festival Season Opens Tonight, 6/13, in Chicago's Millenium Park

Summer in Chicago begins as Grant Park Music Festival begins its 78th season at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, running today, June 13-August 18, 2012. Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Carlos Kalmar will lead the Grammy® Award-nominaTed Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus Director Christopher Bell will direct the award-winning Grant Park Chorus in a soaring season of world premieres, Festival favorites and collaborations with local artists and cultural organizations.
