The second weekend of Kaplan Penthouse performances, the sixth week of American Songbook 2013, runs April 5-6, 2013. April 5th belongs to Cristin Milioti, who was nominated for a Tony Award in 2012 for her lead role in the musical Once.

'American Songbook in the Penthouse' embraces adventuresome performers and celebrates composers and lyricists, both newer and veteran. With a seating capacity of just 225, the Kaplan Penthouse allows acoustic performers to be heard the way they intend - near to the audience and without elaborate amplification. The size of the space also allows performers to interact with their audience to make them an integral part of their performance, something difficult to do in a larger, more formal venue.

Marie Antoinette will be performed at Yale Repertory Theatre (1120 Chapel Street) October 26 through November 17. Opening Night is Thursday, November 1. Lincoln Center's acclaimed series American Songbook returns to the elegant Allen Room in January for its fourteenth season celebrating the diversity of American popular song. For 16 nights the series will explore the best of the golden age of musical standards through to today's most dynamic songwriting. Week One of the 2012 season will start off with a relatively new composer on the scene, multiple Tony-winning Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights) who will be bringing his new rap composition about American historical figure Alexander Hamilton called The Hamilton Mixtape. Next up is the just-nominated-for-a-Grammy Award duo Chris Thile and Michael Daves, who play a dazzling, modern form of bluegrass that nonetheless references legendary bluegrass artists from the past. From the rock canon will be J.D. Souther, performing songs he wrote for Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles as well as newer compositions. To close out Week One, composer William Finn (Falsettos, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), along with guest vocalists, will be performing a song cycle inspired by the poetry of William Blake.

This other Mozart toured throughout Europe, performing side by side with her brother Amadeus, to equal acclaim. Yet none of her compositions have survived and today hardly anyone knows she existed. Using Nannerl's own letters and those of her family, the performance investigates how this female prodigy, this Mozart, faded from the world - and whether this loss was inevitable.

Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company has announced that The Patsy, written by Barry Conners, performed by five-time OBIE Award winner David Greenspan, and directed by four-time Drama Desk Award nominee Jack Cummings III, will begin performances Friday, July 15, at 7:30pm at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project, 229 West 42 Street. The opening is scheduled for Sunday, July 24, at 7:30pm.
