Viva Italia...The Mob Hits A 'killer' compilation featuring world-famous conductor Richard Hayman and the Florida Sunshine Pops Orchestra, this tribute to great mob movies appeals to so many people -- not just Gen-Xers, but Baby Boomers as well -- who fell in love with vocal pop through gangster movies. The tunes of Dean Martin, Jerry Vale, Al Martino, Perry Como, Julius LaRosa and of course, Louis Prima.

Presented by Delta Airlines, songstress Leny Andrade will take Birdland audiences on a journey with her sounds of Bossa Nova from her native Brazil to her love of Boleros (stemming from some years living in Mexico), all with a Jazz flavor. Shows are every night between August 31 and September 4th at Birdland (315 W. 44th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues) at 8:30pm and 11:00pm.

The Colony Hotel - which The Palm Beach Post has hailed as 'probably the best place for cabaret on the planet' - continues its summer cabaret season in its Royal Room Supper Club. Cabaret headliners perform at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with doors opening at 6:45 p.m. for dinner.

Previews will begin today at Virginia's Signature Theatre for the world premiere musical Sycamore Trees written by Ricky Ian Gordon, the award-winning composer of the opera The Grapes of Wrath and the musicals Dream True and My Life with Albertine. A starry Broadway cast portrays Gordon's own family story - complete with a tough Bronx-born father and former 'Borscht Belt' singer/comedian mother - in a tale of two generations' struggles and triumphs in the decades from World War II through the 1990s.
