Photo Flash: Powerhouse Theater's Ninety Rehearsal

Vassar & New York Stage and Film's Powerhouse Theater announces the cast for the first of three Mainstage productions of the 25th anniversary season: Ninety, by Joanna Murray-Smith, directed by Maria Mileaf, beginning performances June 30 and running through July 12, and new additions to the star-filled line-up for the 25th anniversary gala benefit, 'Silver Celebration under the Stars,' June 27.

Frankie & Johnny in the Claire de Lune is a sweet, engaging slice of life

In this Dallas version of Terrence McNally?s award winning play, both leads are African-American. When the play first opened on Broadway in June 1987 at the Manhattan Theater Club, it starred white actors Kathy Bates and Kenneth Welsh. A revival of the play featured popular actors Edie Falco and Stanley Tucci, both of Italian heritage, with the roles subsequently filled by actors Rosie Perez and Joe Pantoliano, both of Latin ancestry.

Frost/Nixon Character Card #6 Oliver Platt as Bob Zelnick

Oliver Platt was brought on board to play seasoned journalist Bob Zelnick. A former national bureau chief for NPR, Zelnick was placed in charge of researching Nixon's domestic and foreign policy for the Frost team. A virtual encyclopedia of Nixon knowledge, Zelnick played Nixon in the team's rehearsals for the interviews.

The dark comedy, written by Ronan Noone, directed by Justin Waldman and starring Campbell Scott as 'Augustine Early,' began performances at Culture Project's temporary new home, Barrow Street Theatre, on Tuesday, October 7th and has an official opening night Sunday, October 12.

Nickelodeon Announces New Dates for 'The Backyardigans' Live!

Nickelodeon and Broadway Across America announced new performances of 'The Backyardigans Live! Tale of the Mighty Knights' throughout 2008 and into 2009. The national touring production will visit 30 new venues beginning Oct. 7 in Champaign, IL and stopping in Los Angeles; St. Louis; Salt Lake City; and Seattle; among other top markets.

Campbell Scott, Isaiah Sheffer and B. D. Wong will read short stories at 'Selected Shorts: A Celebration of the Short Story,' the live performance version of the renowned public radio show of the same name, on Monday, May 19, 8 p.m., at Westport Country Playhouse.
