Juilliard Drama to Feature GREAT GOD PAN, BURIED CHILD & More in 2013-2014 Season

Juilliard's Drama Division announces the 2013-2014 season of fully-staged productions featuring Juilliard's 43rd group of acting students in their fourth and final year in the drama program at Juilliard. This season's plays include Jeffrey Hatcher's Smash, directed by Victor Pappas; Amy Herzog's The Great God Pan, directed by Maria Mileaf; and Sam Shepard's Buried Child, directed by Daniel Fish. All performances take place in the Stephanie P. McClelland Drama Theater at Juilliard.

BWW Interviews: Antonia Katrandjieva

Antonia Katrandjieva, a native of Bulgaria, is an internationally acclaimed scholar, director, writer and choreographers, exploring the realms of dance and theatre. Her works are informed by her extensive studies: she holds a B.A. in Physical Theatre Acting, MFA in Theatre Directing, Ph.D. and D.Sc. in Theatre from the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, and is a graduate of Zurich Tanz Theater Schule in Switzerland. Antonia has traveled, lectured and researched dance and theatre traditions in Asia, South America, Europe and the U.S. and has presented over 40 cutting-edge works at dance and theatre festivals across the globe. She is the NY correspondent for the Bulgarian magazine Teatar and has authored a manual for contemporary actors and dancers, as well as a doctoral thesis entitled Contemporary Trends in Physical Theatre, along with numerous articles on theater, philosophy and dance for Bugarian, Swiss and American journals. In addition to founding and directing Overground Physical Theatre Company, Antonia is creator of Yogea Artflow, an innovative yoga style.

Eye on India Brings Solo Dance-Theater Work SAVITRI to Columbia College for U.S. Debut Tonight

Nominated for seven major awards at the 2013 META (Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards) festival in New Delhi, India, SAVITRI - DANCING IN THE FOREST OF DEATH is a new provocative solo dance-theater work created by Preeti Vasudevan and her collaborators, making its U.S. debut today, July 11 and the 12th at The Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago.

Compagnia de' Colombari's THE WORLD IS ROUND IS ROUND to Premiere at The Mill, 8/30

A playful, exuberant and musical adaptation of Gertrude Stein's existential, modernist children's book The World Is Round will be performed this summer at The Mill: Arts, Letters, and Numbers in Averill Park, New York (east of Albany). THE WORLD IS ROUND IS ROUND IS ROUND is a music-theater piece chronicling the adventures of a girl named Rose in her quest to get "there"-to the top of a mountain. It is adapted and directed by Karin Coonrod with music by Gina Leishman, who Time Out New York called "one of New York's most versatile composers." The work will premiere in August 2013 at The Mill before traveling to New York and other cities.

Celia Keenan-Bolger, Kenda Kassebaum & More Set for Sundance Institute's 2013 Theatre Lab

Sundance Institute today announced the acting company, artists-in-residence and creative advisors for the seven projects being developed at its 2013 Theatre Lab, July 8-28 at the Sundance Resort in Utah. Under the supervision of Artistic Director Philip Himberg and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the Lab is the centerpiece of the Theatre Program's year-round work and is designed to support both emerging and established artists and to create a place where their original work can be effectively mentored and challenged free from commercial pressure.

Les Waters to Return to Berkeley Rep for Sarah Ruhl's DEAR ELIZABETH, 5/24-7/7

To conclude its 45th season, Berkeley Repertory Theatre welcomes back a pair of acclaimed collaborators: Sarah Ruhl and Les Waters, the creators of Eurydice, Three Sisters, and In the Next Room (or the vibrator play), return to Berkeley Rep with another tale of love and longing in Dear Elizabeth.

Company of Fools Opens OTHER DESERT CITIES Tonight

Hidden secrets are unearthed and family tensions fly high in Pulitzer Prize nominee Jon Robin Baitz's contemporary family drama Other Desert Cities, hailed by the New York Times as 'the best new play on Broadway' in 2011. Richmond Theatre Critics Circle award winner and Company of Fools' founder RusTy Wilson returns to direct the Idaho premiere of the show with a standout cast that features Keith Moore, Denise Simone and Patsy Wygle and guest actors Hanna Cheek and Adrian Rieder. Other Desert Cities runs tonight, July 2-27, 2013 at the Liberty Theatre.

Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company's NEW YORK LIVE ARTS to Launch Tour at Festival de Marseille

The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, New York Live Arts' resident dance company, today announced the touring programs and productions for the 2013-2014 season, continuing the Company's 30th anniversary celebrations. The Company will perform in 13 cities in three countries over the next 10 months, making their debut at a number of venues across the U.S. and abroad. The tour kicks off with the Company's debut at the Festival de Marseille, in Marseille, France, on June 19 with a residency and performances of Play and Play: an Evening of Movement and Music. Other touring programs of the 2013-2014 season include A Rite, with Anne Bogart's SITI Company; Story/Time; Body Against Body; and /Time: Study I, a new site-specific work.

BAM Announces 34 Events in Opera, Theater, Music and Dance for 2013 Next Wave Festival!

Joseph V. Melillo, executive producer of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, today announced programming for the 2013 Next Wave Festival. The New York premiere of THE GOLDEN DRAGON, presented by the OBIE Award-winning The Play Company (WORKING ON A SPECIAL DAY, INVASION!), is written by acclaimed German playwright Roland Schimmelpfennig and translated by David Tushingham. THE GOLDEN DRAGON is directed by Ed Sylvanus Iskandar (THESE SEVEN SICKNESSES, RESTORATION COMEDY), renowned for whimsical invite-only theater company, Exit, Pursued by a Bear. THE GOLDEN DRAGON will be performed at The New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street in the West Village) from tonight, May 8th through Sunday, June 9th, 2013. The press opening is Wednesday, May 15th.

Mortar Theatre Company Presents SEEK AND YE SHALL FIND, 5/6-6/8

Mortar Theatre Company will present the world premiere of Seek and Ye Shall Findwritten and performed by Sentell Harper**. The one-man show, directed by Stephanie Stroud*, is performed at the Apollo Theater Studio, 2540 N. Lincoln Avenue, May 6 - June 8. Opening/Press night is Monday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m. The performances run on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 3 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m. There will be no performances on Sunday May 26 and Monday 27 in observance of Memorial Day weekend. Instead, there will be a 7:30pm performance on Tuesday May 28. Tickets go on sale Monday, April 29. Ticket prices are $15 for general admission, $10 for students, and $10 for groups and may be purchased at MortarTheatreCompany.org or at the Apollo Theater box office at 773.935.6100.
