Jack to Present Sister Sylvester's THEY ARE GONE BUT HERE I MUST REMAIN, 9/3-19

JACK will present the acclaimed performance collective, Sister Sylvester, with their new work, They Are Gone But Here Must I Remain which will preview on Thursday, September 3rd and  open on Friday, September 4th at JACK (505 1/2 Waverly Ave in Brooklyn). The company's New York premiere will run through September 19th. They Are Gone But Here Must I Remain, a multi-faceted piece, directed by Kathryn Hamilton, examines the ties between art and rebellion. The New York Times chose Sister Sylvester's recent work, Dead Behind These Eyes as a critic's pick and Time Out called their The Maids' The Maids "genuinely subversive." They Are Gone But Here I Must Remain, will be performed September 3rd, open on September  4th and continue September  5th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 17th, 18th and 19th at 8PM. THE MAIDS' THE MAIDS to Play Abrons Arts Center

The Mainds' The Maids, director Kathryn Hamilton and artists from her company Sister Sylvester have partnered with domestic household workers in New York City to devise a response to Jean Genet's notorious 1947 one-act The Maids.

The Ensemble for the Romantic Century Presents BEETHOVEN LOVE ELEGIES, Now thru 8/3

The Ensemble for the Romantic Century (ERC) returns to Lenox, Massachusetts, for the second consecutive summer, with 12 performances of the fully staged theatrical concert, Beethoven Love Elegies. With a script drawn from Beethoven's letters and diaries and accounts by his contemporaries, interwoven with performances of some of his greatest music, this poignant, humorous, and emotionally intense production dramatizes Beethoven's young years in Vienna and his search for the perfect wife. Actor Kire Tosevski as Beethoven heads an outstanding company of five esteemed actors and four musicians (violinist Rachel Lee Priday, cellist Sebastian Bäverstam, pianist Eve Wolf, and baritone Chad Sloane).

2011 NY Innovative Theatre Awards Honor Robert Patrick et al.' Winners Announced!

On Monday September 19, 2011, the IT Awards (New York Innovative Theatre Awards), the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, and host comedian Harrison Greenbaum, announced the 2011 recipients at the Seventh Annual IT Awards Ceremony at Cooper Union. This year's nominees represent 169 individual artists, 55 productions and 45 theatre companies. In 2011, the IT Awards had the most individual nominees than in any previous season with 169 nominees.
