Neither rain nor sleet or snow could stop TeCo Theatrical Productions, Inc. from crowning its grand prize winner of the 12th Annual New Play Competition last night. With 116 votes tallied over the two weekend festival, Antay Bilgutay walked away $1,000 richer for his one-act play Strangers In A Chapel.
There are very few long-running play festivals/competitions in North Texas and the fact TeCo Theatrical Productions, Inc. has been able to successfully produce their event for 12 years speaks volumes about their ability to sustain programming in the midst of reduced arts funding nationwide.
