Blessed Unrest, an award-winning physical theatre company, enters its 23rd season with a world premiere of MISCONCEPTIONS, a new play by the Emmy-nominated playwright Steve Wangh (The Laramie Project), directed by Jessica Burr.

The June Bingham New Playwright Commission honors the legacy of the late artist and playwright, June Bingham, by providing support to a new generation of early-career women/femme and/or non-binary storytellers as they seek to create work that manifests change in the world. Director and Arts Leader, Abigail Grubb, serves as the Program's Director and Co-Founder alongside Live & In Color's Artistic Director and June Bingham's nephew, Devanand Janki.

Children's Theatre Company presents the highly-anticipated World Premiere An American Tail the Musical. With a book and lyrics by Tony Award -winning playwright Itamar Moses (The Bands Visit), and music & lyrics by Michael Mahler and Alan Schmuckler (Diary of a Wimpy Kid the Musical, The Secret of My Success), the production will feature music supervision by Andrea Grody (The Band's Visit and Tootsie on Broadway). Crowded Fire Theater (CFT)  announces the return of its Matchbox Reading Series, featuring new plays by lily gonzales, Humaira Ghilzai & Bridgette Dutta Portman, Eugenie Chan, and CFT's 2021-23 Resilience & Development (R&D) Lab playwrights Star Finch, A-lan Holt, Maria Jenson, and Lisa Marie Rollins. This year's Matchbox is presented in partnership with Golden Thread Productions, Shotgun Players, and Playwrights Foundation, with support from the Gerbode Foundation.  

It was a like coming home with Chita Rivera full circle and approaching a kind of comfortable closure when I attended the Signature Theatre’s Sondheim Award Gala 2023 honoring the Broadway legend Chita Rivera at the Italian Embassy in Washington. DC.  The iconic legend of theatrical music and dance (What a dancer she is!) was feted with the prestigious award from Signature Theatre and a warm response from a very “Chita-friendly” roster of performers and an audience of patrons, fans and supporters. (Rivera has also won about every award in the book including two Tony Awards, a special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Kennedy Center Honor).

Today's subject Susan Rome is currently living her thetre life in an epic way. She is currently playing four very different roles in Angels in America Part One: Millennium Approaches at Arena Stage. The production runs through April 23rd in Arena Stage's Fichlander Theatre Space.
