Signature Theatre presents La Cage aux Folles, directed and choreographed by Signature Associate Artistic Director Matthew Gardiner (Signature's West Side Story, Sunday in the Park with George). With an iconic score by Jerry Herman (Hello, Dolly; Mame), featuring 'I Am What I Am' and 'The Best of Times,' and a book by Harvey Fierstein (Kinky Boots, Newsies), this musical comedy runs through July 10 in Signature Theatre's intimate MAX Theatre. The Drama League announced today that Jennifer Sunshine has been appointed the company's new Development Director, beginning July 11th, 2016.  Ms. Sunshine is the final new addition to The Drama League's leadership, three of whom were announced last month: Associate Producer Travis LeMont Ballenger, Program Director Sherri Eden Barber, and Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, whose position was expanded to Executive Artistic Director.  The announcement caps a transformative season for The Drama League, in which the organization broke fundraising records, served over 3,000 artists, and celebrated its 100th anniversary.

Celebrated playwright and teacher Paula Vogel will spend two days at the Playwrights' Center in June as part of the Dramatists Guild Fund's Traveling Masters Program. Vogel's visit will conclude with a public conversation on Monday, June 20, at 7 p.m. at the Playwrights' Center, 2301 E. Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis. Five on a Match presents the world premiere of Seen / By Everyone, directed by Kristin Marting, co-conceived by Amir Darvish and Meg MacCary, and co-written by Matthew Cohn, Amir Darvish, Meg MacCary, Enormvs Munoz and Jen Taher. Seen / By Everyone runs from June 4 - 25, 2016 in a limited engagement at HERE, located at 145 6th Avenue (Enter on Dominick, 1 block south of Spring) in New York City. Previews begin June 4 for a June 6 opening.

Center Theatre Group will host a special event featuring a screening of "Grey Gardens," the 1975 classic documentary, followed by a conversation with Betty Buckley, Rachel York and Michael Wilson - the stars and director of the upcoming Ahmanson Theatre production of the Tony Award-nominated "Grey Gardens" The Musical.

John Rando (Tony and Outer Critics Award winner for Urinetown) directs production starring Arnie Burton (Flesh and Bone) as Jonathan, Emily Robinson (Transparent) as Tessa, Jon Tenney (The Closer, Major Crimes, Scandal) as Jack, and Jennifer Westfeldt (Kissing Jessica Stein, Ira & Abby, Friends With Kids) as Jen.

STARS IN THE ALLEY, presented by United Airlines, took place just last week in Shubert Alley. Hosted by Tony nominee Sean Hayes and Mo Rocca, Broadway's best once again turned out for the annual performance - including Heidi Blickenstaff and Matt Wall, who performed 'Right Hand Man' from SOMETHING ROTTEN!

1st Stage's production is - for me, at least - a very, very welcome addition to the 2015-2016 theatre season. While Guettel's intricate and original score is, quite simply, extraordinary - and reason enough to make the trek to the McLean/Tysons Corner area to hear it sung live - Director Nick Olcott and his talented and committed cast and design team offer other reasons to pay this little gem of a production a visit.

Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the opening of Dreamgirls on June 24 at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre, 114 West Broad Street. The production runs through August 7, 2016. With music by Henry Krieger and lyrics and book by Tom Eyen, this megawatt Broadway crowd-pleaser electrifies the stage with Motown dreams and powerhouse voices. Loosely based on Diana Ross and the Supremes, the story follows the turbo-charged rise to fame of the Dreams.

Bay Street Theater has announced the full cast and creative team for THE LAST NIGHT OF BALLYHOO, the Tony Award-winning play by Alfred Uhry, directed by Will Pomerantz. The production will run June 28 - July 24.
