Next month, the Great White Way's leading arts-education organization Inside Broadway and the largest local union of professional musicians in the world, Local 802 AFM, will offer a special "Summer Stock Jr." Camp from August 19-23 for 12 lucky NYC public school students from Brooklyn ages 12-16. During the program, the students will be working with Inside Broadway teaching artists and members of Local 802; this is the fifth year of the program and the third year Inside Broadway has partnered with Local 802 AFM and the program is completely free for participating students.

MAMMA MIA!, the global smash hit musical based on the songs of ABBA, will transfer from the Winter Garden Theatre to the Broadhurst Theatre this fall. BroadwayWorld has conformed that the show will play its final performance at the Winter Garden on October 19. Peformances will begin at the Broadhurst on November 2.

Bette Midler just finished a Broadway run in I'LL EAT YOU LAST, starring as the legendary Hollywood agent Sue Mengers - her first Broadway appearance in almost 40 years. In a recent interview with the New York Times, Midler revealed that the play might have a life after Broadway. Midler told NYT: 'We're in talks to bring it to L.A., which would be fun, because it'd be near my house and Sue's house.'

The producers of the Tony Award-winning musical comedy Nice Work If You Can Get It have announced that the Broadway production will play its final performance today, June 15, 2013 after 27 previews and 478 regular performances at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street). The production began performances on March 29, 2012 and opened on Apr 24, 2012. A national tour will be launched in the 2014-2015 season.
The Public Theater announced today that Kevin Kline will reprise his Tony Award-winning role of The Pirate King with Glenn Close as Ruth, Eric Idle as the Sergeant, and Martin Short as Major-General Stanley in the one-night-only concert performance of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE for The Public's annual gala. Trustus Theatre, located in Columbia's Vista, has received a $10,000 grant from the Shubert Foundation for the 2013-14 theatre season. The Foundation provides general operating support for not-for-profit professional theatre and dance companies across the nation. The grant award was based on a strong track record of artistic achievement, administrative strength and fiscal responsibility.
The Bridges of Madison County, a new musical, based on the best selling novel by Robert James Waller, will begin performances on Monday, January 13, 2014, at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street), with an opening night late February 2014. This story about a devoted Iowa housewife and her unlikely love affair with a National Geographic photographer has inspired seven of the theater's most distinguished artists to create a new Broadway musical.
