DTF Sets Spring & Summer Youth Programs

Dorset Theatre Festival is about to kick off its fourth annual Jean E. Miller Young Playwrights Competition, which provides free playwriting instruction to area schools, and invites students to submit their work to be judged by a panel of nationally recognized playwrights. DTF educational director Ashley Connell will facilitate free workshops in area schools including MEMS, Maple Street, Long Trail and The Dorset School this winter with space still available for interested educators. These workshops will teach the basics of playwriting for middle and high school students and encourage them to create their own original works. Students will also have the opportunity to connect with playwriting mentors from Bennington College under the mentorship of renowned playwright Sherry Kramer.

Clint Eastwood, Sean Penn & More Set for LMU's 'Hollywood Masters' Series

Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television has announced the third installment of The Hollywood Masters, whichkicks off in February with actor-writer-director Ethan Hawke (Boyhood, Before Sunrise), followed by Hollywood legends Clint Eastwood (American Sniper, Unforgiven) and Sean Penn (Milk, Mystic River).

Rafael Rozendaal's Kissing Silhouettes Coming to Times Square in February

Artist Rafaël Rozendaal's gorgeous, color changing silhouette of two faces kissing each other, Much Better Than This, will be shown on Times Square's electronic billboards from 11:57 pm to midnight each night in February. Black Lab Theatre's shines an endearing and humorous light on family dysfunction with two regional premiere comedies about the difficulties of familial love in the 21st century. The season opens in January 2015 with Kim Rosenstock's Tigers Be Still and then follows with Joshua Harmon's no-holds-barred comedy Bad Jews to be co-produced by Stages Repertory Theatre and the Jewish Community Center of Houston.
