Matt Harrington Joins Cast of MATILDA as 'Mr. Wormwood' Tonight!

Today, March 4, Matt Harrington joins the cast of Matilda. He will be playing the role of Mr. Wormwood, Matilda's father, and replacing Gabriel Ebert. Harrington recently appeared in Broadway's Twelfth Night and Richard III, which transferred from the Shakespeare's Globe in 2013.

Piffaro, The Renaissance Band's March Concert to Celebrate William Shakespeare, 3/28-30

Piffaro, The Renaissance Band celebrates the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth with a concert program woven around the musical moments in his work. All of Piffaro's instruments will be in play, from rowdy shawms to dulcet lute to Grant Herreid's sweet tenor. Michael Pennington, Scott Shepherd, Daniel Sullivan to Talk Shakespeare at Drama Desk's 2014 Sardi's Luncheon, 4/4

New York's theater season has had a distinctive Shakespearean flavor to it with the critically acclaimed Shakespeare's Globe productions of Twelfth Night, or What You Will and Richard III (in repertory at the Belasco Theater), Lincoln Center Theater's Macbeth, the Bard's The Comedy of Errors (Shakespeare in the Park), King Lear (by Theatre for a New Audience in Brooklyn), and the Wooster Group's Cry, Trojans! (Troilus & Cressida). The Drama Desk's annual Spring Luncheon/Panel Discussion at Sardi's Eugenia Room, 234 West 44th St., on Friday, April 4, will try to answer the questions 'Why Shakespeare? Why Now?' with a distinguished lineup of guests, including British actor/director Michael Pennington (King Lear); Scott Shepherd (Cry, Trojans!, The Wooster Group's Troilus & Cressida); and director Daniel Sullivan (The Comedy of Errors, Shakespeare in the Park). Carol Rocamora, a renowned playwright/critic and educator, will serve as moderator.

X FACTOR Musical I CAN'T SING! Postpones Tomorrow's First Performance; Previews Will Now Begin Next Week

Stage Entertainment and Syco Entertainment, the producers of I Can't Sing! at the London Palladium, have announced that the beginning of preview performances have again been postponed due to a technical problem with one of the show's set pieces. Performances were originally slated to begin yesterday, Feb. 27. As of now, the first preview is set for sometime next week.

NYU Skirball Center to Sponsor SHAKESPEARE AROUND THE WORLD Panel at Metropolitan Museum of Art, 3/4

NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts will sponsor a panel discussion on 'Shakespeare Around the World' on Tuesday, March 4 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street). The event begins with an open exhibit of 'Ink Art' at 3PM, followed by the 4PM panel discussion and a 5PM reception. The panel is free with museum admission. Gameshow Presents THIS IS THE MOON, THAT IS THE EARTH Tour, Now-April 12

Emerging company Gameshow are developing a new work exploring human relationships to the universe, which will tour to Ovalhouse, Camden People's Theatre and The Yard in 2014. This is the Moon, That is the Earth, will play with the nature of live performance and spark debates on issues both infinitesimally small and impossibly large. Questioning the nature and meaning of the distance between audience and performer, the two-man production will prompt audience members to ask why they are watching - and what they get in return.

A just released statement reveals that Stage Entertainment and Syco Entertainment, producers of I Can't Sing! at the London Palladium, have decided to postpone the beginning of preview performances by 48 hours due to technical issues caused by the ambitious staging of the new musical comedy.

Official: Arthur Darvill to Join West End's ONCE on March 17

On 17 March 2014, Arthur Darvill, who has previously played the role in the Broadway production, will join the West End cast of Once to play the leading role of Guy. The eight-time Tony award-winning musical last month released over 400,000 new tickets for sale, taking bookings at the Phoenix Theatre to 4 July 2015. Directed by John Tiffany, Once opened at the Phoenix Theatre in April last year where it has been acclaimed by audiences and critics alike.

Benton To Star In HOBSON'S CHOICE; Clarke And Hughes In PORGY AND BESS At Open Air Theatre

Regent's Park Open Air Theatre has confirmed lead casting for Hobson's Choice and the Gershwins' Porgy and Bess. Mark Benton will play Henry Hobson in Hobson's Choice, with Jodie McNee as his daughter Maggie. Rufus Bonds Jr and Nicola Hughes play the title roles in Porgy and Bess with Phillip Boykin re-creating his Tony Award nominated performance as Crown, and Sharon D Clarke as Mariah.
