The world premiere of the latest play from leading British playwright Torben Betts is in rehearsal at Scarborough's Stephen Joseph Theatre. The National Joke will open the theatre's Summer Festival on 8 June. The cast features Philip Bretherton, Guy Burgess, Cate Hamer, Catherine Lamb and Annabel Leventon.

After months of anticipation, the world premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child finally begins previews at the Palace Theatre in the West End this week. A casting update is announced today for the world premiere of new musical A Pacifist's Guide to the War on Cancer with book by Bryony Kimmings and Brian Lobel, music by Tom Parkinson and lyrics by Bryony Kimmings. National Theatre Wales' next production, Before I Leave, by Patrick Jones and directed by Matthew Dunster (who directed the multi-award-winning Mametz for NTW in June 2014), begins today, 27 May.
