Averett, Noonan, Pearce & More Set for Epic Theatre's THE PASSION PLAY, 4/27-5/30

New York's OBIE Award-winning Epic Theatre Ensemble (Zak Berkman, Melissa Friedman, Ron Russell, Founding Executive Directors) today announced the cast and creative team for the New York premiere of Sarah Ruhl's Passion Play (In The Next Room… or the vibrator play) and directed by Mark Wing-Davey (The Singing Forest). The cast will include Brendan Averett, Polly Noonan, Daniel Pearce, Alex Podulke, Keith Reddin, Godfrey L. Simmons Jr., T. Ryder Smith, Felix Solis Jr., Kate Turnbull and Nicole Wiesner.

THE LION KING Plays The Academy of Music Through April 24

Casting has been announced for the Philadelphia engagement of Disney's THE LION KING. Philadelphia's most eagerly awaited return will once again leap onto the Academy of Music stage from Tuesday, March 23 to Saturday, April 24.

Bennett's THE HABIT OF ART Broadcast In NYC & Screens Worldwide

Tony & Oliver award winning playwright Alan Bennett's highly acclaimed new play THE HABIT OF ART, directed by Nicholas Hytner, will be filmed live at the National Theatre in London on Thursday, April 22nd and broadcast by satellite to cinemas worldwide.

Celeste Ciulla Honored as 2010 Lunt-Fontanne Fellow

Actor and San Diego audience favorite Celeste Ciulla has been selected forthe prestigious Lunt-Fontanne Fellowship Program, a widely acclaimed national program to serve regional theatre actors and the future of American theatre. Nominated by The Old Globe, Ms.Ciulla is one of only nine actors in the entire country being honored as a 2010 Lunt-Fontanne Fellow.

Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the cast and creative team for the West Coast Premiere of Matthew Lopez's The Whipping Man. The Civil War drama is directed by Giovanna Sardelli and will run in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre May 8 - June 13.

Rep Stage Presents Eric Overmyer's 'On the Verge or The Geography of Yearning' 4/14-5/2

Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), continues its 17th season with Eric Overmyer's 'On the Verge or The Geography of Yearning.' Mel Gussow, in his New York Times review of 'On the Verge...' wrote, 'Blending Tom Stoppard's limber linguistics with the historic overview of a Thornton Wilder, Mr. Overmyer takes his audience on a mirthful safari that leads from darkest Africa to Terra Incognita, spinning into time travel.'

Chicago Shakespeare Theatre Presents THE TAMING OF THE SHREW 4/14-6/6

Starting tomorrow, April 14, Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) opens THE TAMING OF THE SHREW. Shakespeare's comedy, running thru June 6, is staged by London's Bush Theatre Artistic Director Josie Rourke, and incorporates new scenes written by one of America's leading dramatists, Neil LaBute.

TRTC Closes the Curtain on the World Premiere of ORESTES, A TRAGIC ROMP, 4/11

Following a highly successful run at the Folger Theatre in Washington D.C., Two River Theater Co. will close the curtain on the world premiere of Orestes A Tragic Romp, Anne Washburn's razor sharp modern adaptation of the Greek tragedy by Euripides, directed by Two River Artistic Director Aaron Posner on April 11th.

Signature Theatre Closes the Curtain on SWEENEY TODD, 4/4

The Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre, nationally known for its interpretation of Stephen Sondheim musicals, celebrated its 20th anniversary season by presenting Sondheim's most popular musical SWEENEY TODD, directed by Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer. The production will end its run in the 276-seat MAX Theater, April 4, 2010.
