THEATER TALK to Welcome BETWEEN RIVERSIDE & CRAZY's Creative Team, 2/13

In an all new THEATER TALK, three of Theater Talk's favorite guests are welcomed back to the show – playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis, actor Stephen McKinley Henderson and director Austin Pendleton. The trio discusses their collaboration on Guirgis' new play, Between Riverside and Crazy at the Second Stage Theatre, about the off beat world of an aging police officer whose career was cut short in a shooting. In a freewheeling conversation, they also talk about the inspirations for their successful careers, as well as the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, who got his first break from Pendleton and later was Guirgis' mentor and collaborator.

In this 1991 off-Broadway triumph, two couples grapple with the mundane (burgers and kites) and the momentous (illness and infidelity) as they try (very hard) to celebrate the Fourth of July at a beach house. Lips Together, Teeth Apart includes a touch of Chekhov with the sly wickedness of McNally.

The Public Theater announced initial casting today for the New York premiere of BUZZER, by Tracey Scott Wilson. Directed by Obie Award-winner Anne Kauffman, BUZZER marks the return of Wilson to The Public following her acclaimed The Good Negro in 2009 and The Story in 2003. BUZZER will begin previews in The Public's Martinson Theater on Tuesday, March 24 and will run through Sunday, April 26, with an official press opening on Wednesday, April 8.

The Old Globe today announced the full cast and creative team for Murder for Two, with book and music by Joe Kinosian and book and lyrics by Kellen Blair. Globe veteran Scott Schwartz (A Room with a View at the Globe, The Hunchback of Notre Dame at La Jolla Playhouse) returns to direct Blair and Kinosian's Off Broadway hit, a vaudevillian mystery musical with an energetic two-man cast. Murder for Two will run January 24 - March 1 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.
