SMC & SWC Welcomes Paul Caldwell for 2016-2017 Season

This October marks Paul Caldwell's very first concert as the new artistic director for Seattle Men's Chorus (SMC) and Seattle Women's Chorus (SWC). SWC kicks off the 2016-2017 season with Unveiled, a five performance run from October 21-29, inside Capitol Hill's historic Saint Mark's Cathedral. SMC continues the season with their highly anticipated holiday concert, Silver & Soul, at Benaroya Hall from December 4-22, 2016.

Seattle Men's Chorus & Seattle Women's Chorus Welcomes New Artistic Director

Flying House Productions (FHP) the parent organization for Seattle Men's Chorus and Seattle Women's Chorus, isthrilled to announce that Paul Caldwell will be named the new artistic director, effective August 1, 2016. The organization has flourished under the 35-year artistic leadership of Dennis Coleman, whose retirement was announced in February 2015. Immediately theFHP board of directors began an extensive nationwide search for Coleman's successor; work is currently underway with the Board of Directors, executive director Steven Smith, and Coleman for a smooth transition process. In the coming months Caldwell is expected to relocate from his Chicago-area home where he has worked as artistic director for the Youth Choral Theatre of Chicago, Windy City Gay Chorus, and Windy City Treble Quire.

With medleys, mashups, and a mini musical, these outrageously hilarious musical funnymen will roast and toast, prance and dance. Original songs like 'Straight Guy Hug,' as well as Elton John's 'Daniel' and the Hollies' 'He Ain't Heavy' are used to relay both touching and hilarious tales from the boys' own life experiences, including those awkward locker room moments and the beloved big brother (both real and imagined).

Seattle, WA – This October Seattle Women's Chorus (SWC) will kick off a milestone season with Hallows in the Cathedral: Spirits Rising, the first of five concerts in Dennis Coleman's final season as artistic director for Seattle Men's Chorus (SMC) and Seattle Women's Chorus. Each concert in the 2015-2016 season has special meaning to Dennis and the selected songs spotlight the artistry and societal impact of these two world-renowned ensembles. Throughout the season the Choruses will celebrate and honor Dennis' role as an artistic visionary, friend, and proponent for social change in the LGBTQ community and beyond.

Seattle Men's Chorus (SMC) and Seattle Women's Chorus (SWC) present their annual FREE concert for Seattle-area children and their families.  Kids are encouraged to dance and sing along as they experience the thrill of watching a glorious live concert event, with a McCaw Hall audience of thousands, by two of the nation's largest and most respected choruses.  SMC and SWC will perform high-energy kid-friendly tunes from the Disney songbook as well as some classics from the 70s rock supergroup, Queen. SMC's ensemble, Captain Smartypants and SWC's ensemble, Sensible Shoes, join in on the fun.

For the sixth year, Seattle's TeenTix, an arts access and engagement program for teenagers, has announced the nominees for its annual Teeny Awards. Like a Teen Choice Awards for local arts events and organizations, the Teeny Awards aim to empower teen arts audiences and to recognize those organizations that have done an especially good job of welcoming young people over the past year.

Today, San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus (SFGMC) Artistic Director, Dr. Timothy Seelig, announced the program for LUSTER: AN AMERICAN SONGBOOK at Davies Symphony Hall (201 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco), on Tuesday, March 25 and Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 8 p.m. A celebration of 20th Century American music, LUSTER will feature the 300 men of the chorus and special guest Ann Hampton Callaway singing timeless classics from George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington and Irving Berlin. The performance will also include the world premiere of 'Tyler's Suite,' a multi-movement work created by top American composers of this century, presented in collaboration with the Tyler Clementi Foundation (TCF). Passionate about the story of Tyler Clementi, composer Stephen Schwartz selected John Bucchino, Ann Hampton Callaway, Craig Carnelia, John Corigliano, Nolan Gasser, Jake Heggie, Lance Horne, and Pamela Stewart to join him as they each created a movement for 'Tyler's Suite.'
