Chicago Human Rhythm Project Presents Winter Tap JAMboree This Weekend

The Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP), celebrating 25 years as the nation's premier presenter of American tap dance and international contemporary percussive arts, welcomes students and performers to its annual Winter Tap JAMboree this weekend, February 13-15, 2015, featuring master classes, auditions for the Tap Scholar Program and Nicholas Young's Institute For The Rhythmic Arts (IFTRA), a panel discussion and several Tap JAMs at the American Rhythm Center, Chicago's collaborative arts space in the historic Fine Arts Building, 410 S. Michigan Ave., Suite 300, Chicago.

Tommy Tune and More to Celebrate Chicago Human Rhythm Project's 25th Anniversary

The Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP) celebrates 25 years of creating community through American tap and contemporary percussive arts in world-class, innovative performance, education and outreach programs with a series of exciting programs in 2015, including STOMPING GROUNDS, a free concert sampler April 14­-May 8; the Chicago Rhythm Fest finale concert May 13 at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University; and special guest Tony Award winner Tommy Tune receiving CHRP's JUBA! Award at its 25th Anniversary Jubalee July 30 at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

BWW Interviews: Cartier Williams

Cartier Williams is a hoofer, choreographer, filmmaker and performer hailing from Washington, D.C. He began his tap dancing career at the age of four and has been active in the tap dance community ever since. Throughout his career, Cartier has had the opportunity to dance with a multitude of tap pioneers and masters, including Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Peg Leg Bates and the Nicholas Brothers. He has appeared on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show,' 'The Tonight Show,' 'Good Morning America' and CNN. Cartier has performed for President Clinton, co-starring with Bebe Neuwirth in the PBS special 'In Performance at The White House.' He also performed for President George W. Bush at the 2006 Congressional Picnic at the White House. Cartier is currently continuing to develop multiple musical productions and workshops.

McCoy Tyner Honored Tonight at Giants of Jazz Concert

Legendary Jazz Pianist McCoy Tyner will be the Jazz Master Honoree at this year's annual Giants of Jazz Concert at South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) in South Orange, NJ. The concert will take place tonight, November 29 at 8pm at 1 SOPAC Way, South Orange, NJ, 07079, and will feature an unparalleled gathering of jazz artists who will play in tribute to McCoy Tyner.

Yaelisa & Caminos Flamencos are delighted to announce the revival of one of their most popular programs, Canciones, featuring flamenco dance set to traditional and popular songs. Guest artists Marina Elana, Manuel Gutierrez and Jesus Montoya join the ensemble in interpretations of music by Ray Charles, Leonard Cohen, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, the Beatles, The Police and many more. Cornish Dance Theater, the performing ensemble of the Dance Department at Cornish College of the Arts, will feature choreography by Iyun Ashani Harrison, Jose Limon, Vivian Little, Michele Miller, and Amy O'Neal at its Fall 2014 Concert, which takes place at the Cornish Playhouse this weekend, Nov. 21 and 22. Many of the pieces, including one world premiere from Harrison, focus on issues relevant to the dancers and today's college students.

He began his tap dancing career at the age of four and has been active in the tap dance community ever since. Cartier is currently working on a project that will bring the joy of tap dance back into the lives of people across the world. He is the co-founder and artistic director of The Williams Davis Foundation for the Performing Arts, a nonprofit organization committed to bringing the joy of performing arts into the lives of people worldwide. Throughout his career, Cartier has had the opportunity to dance with a multitude of tap pioneers and masters, including Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Peg Leg Bates, and the Nicholas Brothers. He has taught at Broadway Dance Center and American Tap Dance Foundation in NYC along with many other cities across the country and the world!
