KPFK Radio's Arts in Review, Los Angeles's longest-running radio showcase on live theater and cabaret, presents its annual Christmas Day Special, highlighted by a concert presentation of Dylan Thomas' A Child's Christmas in Wales, featuring actor Al Alu; and the premiere of the radio dramatization, All is Calm, All is Bright, performed by the Arts in Review Repertory Company.

Grammy nominated song writer Barbara Hart and Cheryl Gimbel have joined forces to create a world premiere musical debuting in Los Angeles, with the incomparable Kay Cole at the helm. In the musical, a low-life building inspector tries to bring down the decades old Rose Bowl bowling alley. As justice is being sought, Cupid's arrow is launched...but the Rose Bowl Queens may not survive. Ain't likely ta git much funner en this.

Way Off-Broadway Dinner Theatre Hosts 'Breakfast with Santa Claus,' 12/19, 12/20 & 12/23

One of the most popular events at The Way off Broadway Dinner Theatre and Children's Theatre is its annual Breakfast with Santa (and Mrs. Claus). Each year, children and their families get to spend a festive morning with Mrs. Claus and the elves waiting for Santa's arrival. This year, the theatre has three scheduled breakfasts: Saturday, December 19th; Sunday, December 20th; and Thursday, December 23rd.

Silber, Patteri and Walsh to Star in Reprise's CAROUSEL

The 2009-2010 season of Reprise Theatre Company continues with Rodgers and Hammerstein's 'Carousel,' January 26 to February 7 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse. Alexandra Silber stars as Julie Jordan, direct from her critically acclaimed portrayal of Julie Jordan in 'Carousel' at the Savoy Theatre in London's West End (TMA Award - Best Actress). Silber is joined by Robert Patteri as Billy Bigelow ('Scarlet Pimpernel,' 'Beauty and the Beast'.) Veteran character actor M. Emmet Walsh appears as the Starkeeper. Michael Michetti, co-artistic director of The Theatre at Boston Court, will direct, with choreography by Lee Martino and musical direction by Darryl Archibald.

With school out, snow on the ground and kids eagerly anticipating toys under the tree, the holidays are the ideal time for family entertainment. Note, for the record, that I didn't say 'children's entertainment.' There is a world of difference between entertaining kids and entertaining an entire family. For a prime example of the latter, take this past weekend's concert by the New York Pops.

Director/playwright Robert A. O'Connell's latest work, Christmas on the Pecos, opens in a new production at Darkhorse Theatre December 4-20, the latest offering from GroundWorks Theatre. Described as 'a gentle comedy,' Christmas on the Pecos takes place on Christmas Eve as two modern cowboys, sheltering from a storm, find themselves playing host to a couple seeking protection from the elements and the law.

City Lights Theater Company of San Jose proudly presents the West Coast Premiere of ANOTHER NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS - book and lyrics by Sean Grennan, music by Leah Okimoto . The production previews on Thursday, November 19th and Friday, November 20th, 2009, with the Gala Opening Performance on Saturday, November 21st, 2009. A post-show discussion will be held on November 29th. The production is scheduled to run through December 20th, 2009.
