The Academy Extends Oscar Nominations Voting Deadline

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has extended the deadline for members to vote for Oscar nominations by one day to Friday, January 4, 2013, 5.p.m. PT. (The original date was Thursday, January 3, 5 p.m. PT). Members may vote online or submit a paper ballot.

Oscar Nominations Voting Opens Monday to Over 5,850 Academy Voters

Nominations voting for the 85th Academy Awards will open at 8 a.m. PT, Monday, December 17, for the 5,856 voting members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Members will have until 5 p.m. PT, Thursday, January 3, 2013, to vote electronically or mail in a paper ballot. Any paper ballots received after the deadline will not be counted.

282 Feature Films in Contention for 2012 Best Picture Oscar

Two hundred eighty-two feature films are eligible for the 2012 Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today. To be eligible for 85th Academy Awards consideration, feature films must open in a commercial motion picture theater in Los Angeles County by midnight, December 31, and begin a minimum run of seven consecutive days.

SHOW PEOPLE Receives Star Treatment at the Academy Tonight, 11/1

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present a restored version of the comedic silent film SHOW PEOPLE (1928) tonight, November 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Kevin Brownlow, who received an Honorary Award (an Oscar® statuette), will introduce the film, which was restored under his supervision and features a stereo musical score by composer Carl Davis.

Motion Picture Academy To Honor Stanley Kubrick

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will celebrate the life and career of filmmaker Stanley Kubrick on Wednesday, November 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Hosted by Malcolm McDowell, the evening features film clips and personal remembrances by his friends and collaborators, including Paul Mazursky, Ryan O'Neal and Matthew Modine. The salute is presented in association with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), leading off its retrospective screening series '2012: A Kubrick Odyssey,' and in conjunction with its exhibition 'Stanley Kubrick.'
